Manga Ent. to release Summer Wars in September

I just spotted the same thing at Anime on DVD. I'll definitly be getting this on Blu-ray. Movies like this are what High Definition was made for.

It'll be interesting to learn about their plans regarding a dub, since it's not been announced in America yet. They have coproduced dubs with Madman in the past, but a US partner would in their better interest, especially if they work together for a simultaneous US/UK release.
 
This is good. Very good. Anyone who hasn't watched it should just blind-buy. Nice to see that at least one UK distributor seems commited to BD... and to telling us about it. Still no BD release plans laid out from Beez or MVM yet?

Last I've spoke to Andrew, the cost of producing BD's were prohibitive, therefore unless they were sure they would have a certain demand, they would not venture into it.

That was over a year ago, so probably situation changed now.
 
Meh, I'm not paying £12. I'll just use my internets efficiently and watch it for free, like.

(I still need to pick up SotS and I need to pre-order Ocean Waves...)
 
I think I'll be picking this up. Kudos to Manga for announcing it sufficiently early that I don't buy another version. I hope that they don't region lock the blu.

Where from? InvisibleHand tells me HMV is the cheapest at £11.99. I wasn't going to buy it at that price (given that Ghibli BDs are inevitable - and that we've had such a ridiculous wait for it) but at a tenner I might consider it.
 
In all seriousness, I might pre-order it, £11.99 or not, simply because I haven't seen it and it's getting released fast. It's too bad the 'HD revolution' has passed me by...


Ayase: as soon as a store sells it (and SotS) for a tenner, I'll be sure to let you know.

It might take awhile - I'm still waiting to buy the last two DN volumes.
