Majikoi Oh - Samurai Girls DVD question

Invisible Crane

Adventurer
So I'm about to buy this show after failing to find it in any HMV near me, but I noticed something odd. The US release (both DVD and Blu Ray) is on 3 discs, and the UK DVD release is on 2 discs but both seem to have the same amount of contect (all episodes plus extras). Were any corners cut for the UK release or is MVM (or whoever authored the UK release) really good at DVD compression

Most 12-13 episode series fit on 2 discs these days. It's odd that Sentai put it on three, but when Madman got it in Australia, they got it onto two discs and it looks fine for a native PAL release with well over an hour of extras.

Maybe it allows for better picture quality by spreading it across three discs?

It's a DVD. I doubt it's going to look much better over 3 discs. I'd imagine that doing 2 discs is also safer as it saves slightly on the production costs, especially when you have no idea how a title will perform.

But this again raises the issue of why sentai are suddenly going for 3 when 2 would be cheaper

Do we have anyone in a position to compare file sizes perhaps?

I don't think that you can compare file sizes when all the episodes are in one title on the UK release when they are on separate titles on the US release.

I meant the blu ray which the OP mentions is also on three discs.
