Madoka Magica Trilogy Announced

It seems these days that if an anime is popular, it will get a movie. It may not have been announced after the final episode of the TV series in March (As is the current trend) but December's issue of NewType has announced that a Puella Magi Madoka Magica film project has been launched.

Aniplex USA will be releasing the series on DVD and region-free blu-ray in the United States in three volumes starting on Valentine's Day next year.

EDIT:
So now it's changed to say the reports are unconfirmed...

At the moment, there seems to be a debate on if this news is fake or not.

If this is true then I would be quite excited for this, especially if Homura was involved with the movies plot.

Yeah, I posted the news when it was still surfacing, went to watch The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya and then come back to see the debate about it being fake or not xD

Personally, I'm not sure how I'd feel about a Madoka movie. I mean, I felt that the series had a really concrete, closed ending. I'm worried a movie would ruin that.

Sorry for the double post, but we have confirmation that it will be a trilogy; the first two will be a compilation of the TV series while the last one will be a new story.

Rebuild of Puella Magi anyone?

More like - "A New Magical Girl", "Walpurgis Night Strikes Back" and "Return of the Homu"

As said on twitter, two re-cap movies is a bit silly and like i've said about the K-ON movie as well, it doesn't really need to be made, it should of been left alone.

I think I remember reading something that Gen wanted a certain episode of Madoka Magica to have a length of 40 minutes, also if you add the content of the Drama CD's, then I kinda see how it would work but i'm just a bit worried that my mass praise of the TV series could effect my enjoyment of the movies...

Still i'd love to be proven wrong :)

Reevo's list of anime films to hopefully watch in 2012:

1st Madoka Magica movie
Steins;Gate Movie
Kizumonogatari
Evangelion 3.0
Mardock Scramble - The Third Exhaust

The list keeps growing

Did say they couldn't be doing "End of Madoka" (they did that in the TV)

So rebuild of Madoka it is, hell yes!!

Sounds all good to me, you just know that they have some subtle changes they were considering going with. Not entirely convinced by the idea of a new story on the end, but am prepared to give them all the benefit of the doubt on that one.

Might have to grab the issue of NT, too, just for the lovely cover. :s
