Loveless?

Loveless is very popular in the US (I think it's second only to Fruits Basket as Tokyopop's best seller) so one would assume it was a likely candidate to be released over here. However, anime/manga targeted at girls doesn't usually do too well over here, so I can't see Loveless getting a release anytime soon.

I haven't seen any, but I'd like to. Won't happen, though.

Yeah, i guess.

If it did come out who would bring it out over here?

It was released in the US by Media Blasters and MVM seem to pick up most of their releases, so I guess MVM is the best bet.

Have you read the manga?

Nope, i'm just really intrested in it.

I'm gonna take a look at the manga when i go past waterstones.

& holy shi' just watching anime cenrtal & .hack advert was on, which reminds me i need to buy the lat volume of that.

There hasn't been any UK releases of shonen-ai material, IIRC. So, perhaps Loveless could be the first? Considering pretty much every female anime fan likes shoenen-ai, there's a sizable potential market there.

Has the manga been releases in the UK by Tokyopop?

Loveless on DVD IMO has quite a slim chance of being released.

For one, the dvd's are sub only (I know cause I imported them), which cuts off alot of the casual buyers over here. Secondly, if MVM decided to pick it up, they'd most probably want to have a dub for the series, or have a dub made which costs more money.

There's not a huge market over here as of yet for a series like Loveless. Not just because it's shonen-ai (which hasn't taken off to the extent it has in America) but more because of the style of it. It's narrative and general feeling whilst watching is quite different from most series, which could also cut off potential viewers. Also, Loveless is targeted for a female demographic, and as ADV and such have said, series like that just don't sell as well as hoped (for example, Pretear, and their decisions not to release Princess Tutu etc)

Another key point is that Loveless, as far as I know, hasn't been released in Australia yet. MVM (who would be most likely to pick it up) have a habit of working closely with Madman in order to bring series to both Australia and the UK (as PAL conversion, once more, costs money).

Overall, I just don't see Loveless as something likely to be brought over to the UK. I hope I'm wrong as it is an excellent series, but being realistic, the chances are slim when series like Cardcaptor Sakura, which is seen as one of the defining shoujo anime, and is sub only like Loveless, and is more popular in the anime circuit, hasn't even been picked up.

i've got loveless manga volumes 1-6 i do hope that it could be released here but as it was said before there aren't many series aimed at girls even though the manga goes well i think

I think it would be a real shame if it doesn't reach our shores. I've been reading the latest manga scans and it's gripping stuff (of the nail biting variety!)

It really is gripping stuff, i'm up to episode 7 now but, i've hadn't time to watch more due to school work.

Is the manga worth the buy?

Because i've only looked into the anime?

Lelouch,

Personally, the manga is better than the anime, there is much more depth in the manga that isn't conveyed in the anime. But keep watching the anime, it's still good, but if you can get a hold of the manga where you live, I would certainly recommend it. I thought Ritsuka was a bit of a brat in volume 1, but by volume 2 I had to change my mind.

No, i think i can possibly get the manga after i finish watching the animated series.

& yeah Ritsuka is a bit cheeky & harsh to people around him.

Not entirely true. They're just not very mainstream. But i know what you mean. Of course, there's a huge amount of Shounen-ai/ Yaoi Manga around, so it's any wonder why there isn't as much anime. Gravitation for example? Where's the UK release? That's been around years! But, has anyone heard of Tactics? My friend bought it at London Expo from the ADV stand. It's kind of Ghost Hunt-esque but as far as i can tell it's got shounen-ai. It's probably as subtle as Demon Diary, but it's Shounen-ai all the same. (Example of Seme, Uke etc. )

i couldn't agree more on gravitation...i mean i've seen the anime and it is a popular manga over here..so why? it's fab series! it was the 1st manga i ever brought..letsee..shonen-ai...eerie queerie is one that is rather funny

I tried sooooo hard to like this series, but I just couldn't.I've tried both the manga and anime due to a friends recommendation. And to think,I thought it'd be totally up my street.I may give the anime or manga another go though, maybe it's something I just need to pursue with :D

Nooo, TRASHBAT, don't give up, I've been reading the scans upto book 9 and the storyline hits the floor running. Personally, I prefer the manga to the anime.

Ritsuka starts of being a brat, but in the end I just can't help liking him.

And those Zero Boys, how can you not love someone so diabolically sneaky?
