In our infinite search to better the site, we are currently looking for an enthusiastic news reporter/poster to join our growing team of UK anime junkies here at Anime UK News. If you find yourself wanting to become involved in the UK community, this is your chance to jump on the bandwagon.

Applicants should have a good grasp of the English language and an undying interest in anime. No technical knowledge required- just pure enthusiasm. Sounds simple? That's because it is! If you're interested, fire off an e-mail to me and we can talk further.

Deadline for applications is this Friday, the 18th of February.

Basically, the role entails that you discover and post news that UK anime fans would find interesting. You need to be able to write with good English (i.e. no txt speak or internet slang). That's really all that is required. If you want to apply, send me an e-mail and I'll consider you along with everyone else.

So basically, search the internet etc for interesting tid bits of anime information? Or is it more indepth than that?

Nope, that's about all I do! ;) Along side speaking with the UK companies that is. You just need to report on news that you find interesting as a UK fan. From news of art-boxes to rumours of a Last Exile live action adaptation, it all counts.

So do you want articles or reviews etc?

Basically, if you became a news reporter/poster here, I would set it up so you could post threads in this forum. Essentially, like what I've been doing in this forum for the last 5 or so months.

You've confused me
Wouldn't reporting on Artboxes and info on live action stuff be the same as interesting tid bits of anime info? or are you meaning specifically aimed at the UK? or anything at all that no one else has mentioned that is an interesting piece of anime info/news? (now I've confused myself!).

OK, you're confusing me now ;) Lets start again - basically, the role of a news poster on this website would be to post news related to anime. However, with this obviously being a UK site, the news reporter should only post anime news that interests/concerns UK fans.

Clear now? I know it's a little unspecific, but almost all of the news I post is just stuff I figure would interest UK fans in some way or another. For example, the Last Exile live-action adaptation news is not explicitly linked to UK fandom, but given that the Last Exile anime series is currently being released in the UK, I figured it would interest those UK-based people who are collecting it.

Would that include posts on the main site also?

Every post in this forum automatically appears on the main site. I've set it up this way to help more people find their way into these forums. So if you posted a thread in this forum, that thread would appear on the main page with your name attached.

Any more questions, shoot ;)

Aah! I see the light

Now I get ya! so in other words, say Pretty Cure had just been given a UK release date (yeah right  ) - just an example - and I found out that Pretty Cure Max Heart was available to download as a fansub, this would be the connection?

So really, it'd be a case of having to be totally up-to-date with all UK anime news?!

Yeah, it's not really that hard though. It just requires a stern sense of judgement, basic English skills and a love of anime- the rest should come naturally.

Could it also include Fansub news i.e. an upcoming series in japan has a trailer out etc.

Not really, no. Despite their moral position, fansubs are illegal and thus not something we should be actively promoting on the site with download links etc. We don't mind people discussing fansubs on these forums and in preview articles, but direct links to fansubbed material would pose a problem. Besides, fansub releases have very little to do with the UK industry.

I have the 2nd two and I guess the stern sense of judgement being the "well will anyone else actually want to know this" side of it?!

I didnt mean actually linking to torrents or anything, what I meant was just previewing things that are around In japan, not nescicerally saying to people 'this series is out now you can download it here' etc just saying like 'new series - started today in japan' or something along those lines.

Yep, exactly. Sometimes I have to bite the bullet and say "I love this series, but is there any point in me posting this here?" Basically, you just need to be as objective as possible and keep control of the fan-girl/boy within us all ;)

Well, we already run a monthly fansub column that previews three different series each time; I think that is enough for the fansub side of things. Though we do cover some of the biggest Japanese releases; like news about Howl's Moving Castle since UK fans are bound to have an interest in Miyazaki's latest work.
