London Expo May Meet

Not really a huge amount to say about this that you don't already know.

I propose beginning the meet on the friday before Expo, the 26th, so that we are all nearby the Expo early in the day, & so that we can all hang out before the event, since we'll all want to go off in expo & do our own things.

Hotel: Beckton Travel Inn
Its not far from the DLR (Docklands Light Railway, like a skytube) station, & has a nearby Asda & pub. Plus, because of the Expo event, we'll be able to safely overfill the our rooms. At least, to a certain degree.

Cost: I have booked two rooms for two nights (Fri night & Sat night) at a cost of £216, or £54/room/night. Each night's cost will be divided evenly between all staying that night. If there are eight of us each night, it will be £27 per person for both nights, or £13.50 per person per night; quite a good price in my opinion. Of course, any above eight would need to bring a sleeping bag & hit the floor, but the more who do this, the more out costs will hit the floor. If desired though, I could book a third room. Each room has enough bed area for four (two singles & a double), & the TVs can take consoles the same way as the last meet's hotel could.

Meet time & place: 1pm, London Waterloo, Boots by the men's bogs.
AKA the usual.

What we do:
Friday: Meet up. Go to the hotel & drop off our stuff. Head back out & go places. Head back to hotel & hang out.
Saturday: EXPO! Then hanging out again in the evening.
Sunday: Expo again for those who want both days. Heading home.

Want to come? I know many of you wont know for certain if you can room it or not yet, or make the friday, but let me know what you definited can make, & what you are unsure but will try to sort out making, eg maybe friday, defo sat, rooming sat only.

EDIT: If you want to room, you can arrive as late as you like. I mean, its handy to stay 10 mins from the Expo if you want to get there early & beat the queues (remember to buy an early entry ticket), but you don't need to be free for the Friday afternoon to have a room. Also, the gathering & DVDing & gaming will be in one room, so anyone wanting a little peace & quiet will be able to go in the second room.

Any requests or concerns? Let me know, & I'll do my best to accomodate them.
 
there may be a couple of problems with your idea, you need to check with the hotel if people are allowed to stay on the floor and also provision for responsable "adults". I know for one I wouldnt want to be thought of as the responsable adult. All this depends on number and age of people there for the meet. I would most likely come to the meet and stay in the same hotel but you would find me in my own room.

Another point just come into my head about possible problems. Gender sharing of rooms may be a no-no too.
 
Having stayed in this hotel before during Expo, I have witnessed rooms with 6+ people each. I have been in rooms with that many people, including floorers. During Expo, the hotel do not check. In fact, 50% of the rooms are accessible without passing reception.

As far as being a responcible adult, I'll take responcibility. Heck, I'm one of the only ones you'll guarantee to find sober there.

One question; why would you opt not to join us?
 
simply because I dont agree with having someone of my age stay in a room with someone younger than me and thus becoming a responsable adult and getting it in the neck should something bad happen.
 
I getcha. I know you are older than most/all of us, just not how much. Well, you are of course welcome to join us for games & DVD watching even if you stay in a room of your own.

One tip though; book the room while you can! Beckton is hot for Expo.
 
its not that you may or may not need it, its that the hotel may require someone to be appointed the responsable adult so they have someone to go to should you have an accident or whatever.
 
Well, the rooms are both in my name, does that count?

Also, does any of this even apply if all the occupants are adults? It just occured to me that we are unlikely to have any minors staying with us, thus averting any 'responsible adult' needings.

Also, I thought you were older Reddy. :) You're less than 6 months older than me. :O

So, I'll add one more critera to this: if you want to room & you are under 16, let me know, & I'll make extra provisions to make sure you are all ok. :)
 
I see my names already on the list lol, Im gona have to do some Maths and work out me Finances, also I may have other plans at the time, somethings on the burner at the moment, just working out the details so I cant give anything definete yet but i will definetly keep ya posted 8)
 
My family are coming with me to London so I couldn't stay in the same room but I can always stay in the same hotel as you guys ^_^

I wouldn't be able to arrive in time for the meet because my sisters will be at school (I'll be on study leave that day) and I've got my Chemistry exam on the Tuesday after the expo and I'm really crap at chemistry so before I go down I've got to study for it :(
 
Matsumi: you will find its under 18's not under 16's that a responsable adult would be needed for, at least that is how I understand it to be.
 
I'm going to be coming for sure, however, I won't be able to know if I'm gonna want a room or not in the end... Having thought about it, I might want my own space for a while since I do tend to crave my solidtude at times.

If people are worried about the cirumstances surrounding the age gap between people rooming, then I would suggest, in the nicest way possible, that they simply book their own room and sort out staying with someone they know well or something like that...

Anyway, I'll be there, hopefully on the friday if I can sort it out, and I'm looking forward to it.
 
It's most likely I'll be coming along (and staying the night, providing you DON'T STEAL MY BED FOR HALF THE NIGHT MUTSUMI!!! :twisted: lol) but I'm not sure what'll be going on with uni and that just yet, I might have deadlines.

Put me down as a definative maybe for now. :)
 
I'm not sure I'd want to meet up on the Friday because I usually have to lead worship at church Friday nights. I'm definitely coming on Saturday, though. I'm not getting a costume together for nothing!

It's a little early for me to start planning yet. I'll let you know nearer the time.
