I have nothing personal against DDR (Rock Band, however...) but at nu-LAC it singlehandedly completely obliterated any actual anime discussion by virtue of being loud and attention-grabbing, right in the middle of the chatting area. I stopped going to LAC.At Minamicon, when I used to attend, it wasn't so bad as the games were penned away in their own little room and it was surrounded by relevantly anime-related games as well. It just seems annoying that now it's easier to pop down a few multiplayer music games, and maybe SF4 or Blazblue, and call that an anime convention. It does feel as though there's not much out there for grumpy old anime fans any more. Last time I went to Minamicon the oldies seemed to be outnumbered by the excited cosplayers and I just didn't know what to do with myself. I like the idea of cosplay, but a lot of people seem to do it just for attention more than because they actually enjoy the series itself, so actually finding people at a con who are talking about anime instead of just posing or being posed for seems to get harder each year. The dealers room and even the video rooms seemed to be struggling to get peoples' attention too.R
