The famous basketball manga "Slam Dunk", which at the peak of it's popularity during the mid-nineties spawned a 100+ episode TV series and had millions of graphic novels in circulation around Asia, is set to be adapted into a big budget live action movie - in Taiwan.

Said to cost around $10 million, it will become the most expensive Taiwanese movie of all time. Starring is upcoming actor/musician Jay Chou ("Initial D") while the creative staff involved include action director Tony Ching Siu Tung ("House of Flying Daggers") and art director Yee Chung Man (Oscar nominated for her costume design in "Curse of the Golden Flower").

Sweet Jay Chou gets another chance to show off his acting skills, with the small budget of Initial D they made a stunning movie so for 10 mil I can only hope for a stunning movie

another chance to show his acting skill? he practically does no acting in Initial D, and his acting skills are so life-less, sure the film was 'ok' (could have been better) but still Jay chou is not a good actor in my book.

however having said that, i do feel that he may be well suited to act in Slam Dunk, as long as they make him act as 'Rukawa'....(which is what i think he is acting as.) this is is because from his ''Acting'' in Initial D, he seems like a silent emo to me.....which is 'somewhat' of the same characteristics Rukawa has. (although Rukawa seems more like a Sasuke character)

anywho that aside...i sure hope This movie turns out good, as Slam Dunk..is one of the all time greats....

i just want to know who is going to be playing as the main star......Sakuragi!!!
