While you should consider this firmly in the realms of rumour, there have been rumblings that Joel Silver, producer of The Matrix films, is talking to Gonzo about a possible live-action adaptation of Last Exile.

Also, Studio4°C are said to be planning a new anime "anthology called Genius Party featuring many Animatrix alumni like Koji Morimoto, Shinichiro Watanabe, and Mahiro Maeda." Studio4°C were behind previous big budget anime anthologies including Katsuhiro Otomo's Memories.

All of these rumours have been squirming from the Tokyo International Anime Fair that was recently held in Hollywood.

A Last Exile live action adaptation would cost a massive wad of money. So now, what with Battle Angel Alita, Evangelion et all- what do you reckon the next live action adaptation should be? :)

Noir would make a pretty good live action film, and the budget won't need to be sky high because of the almost zero need for hi-tech SFX. in fact, it would make a very mainstream-friendly film and might stand a chance of being commercially successful for that reason.
 
Ever so slightly off-topic, but are they making a Neon Genesis Evangelion movie?

I remember hearing briefly about Peter Jackson's special effects studio were working on it or something?
