Further on in the article it mentions that Hasbro and Mattel are looking to do deals for film versions of Monopoly, Candyland, Battleship, Stretch Armstrong, View-Master, Max Steel, Hot Wheels and He-Man and the Masters of the Universe.

Who said anything about stealing ideas? Hasbro own that game and so they can market it to whoever they want, they've done quiet well with two of their other brands so far by the looks of things *cough*Transformers and GI JOE*cough*

Still Mangaman i think this thread would of been better in the movies and tv section

Monopoly is already being produced and has Ridley Scott on board.

What would a monoply movie be about anyway?

I had the same idea once But it was about an old money who had a lot of money and how that came to be
 
Really thought this was a joke at first before checking the variety article. I'll be even more surprised if it makes any money at the boxoffice.

If i know hollywood it would be about an evil billionaire who's trying to buy out a full block of a city for redevelopment purposes, problem for him is that there's a few neighbourhoods there, que kids standing up to him trying to save their homes using hijinks, friendship and ultimately they convince him to just help make their neighbour hood better with more maintance and stuff. you know your generic 90s feel good movie

They're really running low on franchises to buy into aren't they? Heaven forbid Hollywood has to come up with some original ideas for it's blockbusters...

Why have I never seen it before, It's A Wonderful Life = the monopoly movie.
