Lamen-ya

The Boss
I've been wondering where are the good lamen-yas in britain. I'm still looking to find a good one, so I wanted to hear your recommendations.

Wagamama is awesome. Basement dining in the cleanest resturant chain I've seen (not like your McDonalds).
I went there once, and had chicken Ramen and some sweet sake. I never felt so warm outside in a strong breeze because of it. ;)

I'm disapointed....
I hated wagamama!!! I've had their curry lamen and it was a disapointment. For anyone who enjoyed, money saving expert website had 2 per 1 vouchers for it just a while ago.... mm, they still have them...

If you ever visit Brazil, go to some Macdonalds restaurant there... they are amazingly clean.

Wagamama aren't bad - you know what you're getting wherever you go (i.e. the ramen in Manchester tastes as good as what they serve in London) but I like to find good independent ones too.

There's a great place in Leeds that sells excellent Japanese cuisine with the likes of green tea, Asahi beer (tasty, especially in summer) and sake - I'll try to find out the name later. My personal fave in London is a place called Tokyo Diner; really small (most of the tables are set up in the basement!) but it's the best udon I've ever had.

It'll have to do while I'm trying to organise my trip next year...

Gomen, but I really did like it. It must be similar to me liking Burger King, but hate McDonalds.
I dissappoint a lot of people, so it's not just you, my friend. ;)

Was at Wagamama's in Glasgow on Thursday and loved it. Had their Yasai Itame and it was real nice, maybe a bit TOO spicy for me, but still good. I'm hoping that they open one in Edinburgh soon enough.

I've been in heaven for 4 months, mind you... I mean, Japan, not heaven =)
There was one lamen-ya on top of a mountain that made me eat lamen everyday for a whole week.

Hated is a strong word, let's say that I had my expectations very high as everyone seems to love wagamama, but then it was just ok.

I went to a Wagamama's in St. Albans, ordered a spicey Ramen disc and it turned out to be nothing like Ramen, and it was ridiculously spicy.

I came to the conclusion that it was a Western restaurant trying to be Japanese, and as far as I'm concerned it failed. I'll probably go again though!
