World renowned Japanese artist <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Takashi_Murakami"><em><strong>Takashi Murakami</strong></em></a>, famous for cultivating the satirical <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superflat">Superflat</a> movement, has directed the animated music video for the song '<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIiTmmMqNso">Good Morning</a>' by hip-hop icon and anime fan <em><strong>Kanye West</strong></em>. It <a href="http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2008-08-27/murakami-video-for-kanye-west-song-is-itunes-no.1">has since</a> risen to #1 in the iTunes music chart. [<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BIiTmmMqNso">Video @ YouTube</a>]

<a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/news/1440/kanye-west-recreates-akira-in-his-latest-music-video">Many will remember</a> that West's previous music video, for the song '<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZd1Js0QaOI">Stronger</a>', contained references to the well-known anime movie Akira.

I'm not a big fan of the music style West is categorised under but to see a mainstream performer/artist collaborating with a member of the Superflat movement of all things is very interesting indeed. The song itself isn't too bad actually (I admit it's pleasantly surprised me) but the imagery of the PV is fantastic.

I liked the "Stronger" vid more than the newer one. The animation was very nice, but even though it didn't totally mess up the vid, I still thought the song was average.
