J.C. Staff and Warner Bros. announce "selector infected WIXOSS" anime

Today, Warner Bros. Entertainment and J.C. Staff announced via opening an official website that they will be collaborating on an original TV anime project this April.

Takuya Sato (<em>Steins;Gate</em>) will be taking the helm of directing <strong>selector infected WIXOSS</strong>' original story by LRIG (Warner Bros. Entertainment Japan, Takara Tomy and J.C. Staff) about young girls who become trapped within a dangerous game. Sato will be joined by fellow <em>Steins;Gate</em> staffer Kyuta Sakai who will be serving as character designer and Kentaro Akiyama (<em>Mawaru Penguindrum</em>) has been announced as art director.

Takara Tomy will also be launching a collectable card game based on the series.

Looks like an adaptation of Red Garden, but with "young girls". I'm always leery of titles that have merchandise already in the pipeline and this one is no exception.

Yeah, I'm getting Red Garden vibes off this too and that does not fill me with hope given Red Garden was a tour de "force" of boring.
