<a href="http://nakama-britannica.animeuknews.net/">Nakama Britannica</a> (not to be confused with the <a href="http://blogs.animeuknews.net/">Nakama Britannica Portal</a>) is collaboration on the part of Anime UK News to produce an anime blog worthy of spotlighting the underrated quality of our ever-improving writing team. Having been previously consigned to the rather strict foundations of our DVD review format, the creative freedom and interactive nature of blogging offers us a real opportunity to create a refreshing collection of anime and manga related articles relevant not only to the UK-based anime fan, but otaku the world over.

As far as a writing schedule goes, we intend to publish at least one new article per week; in fact, new content is planned to appear every coming Sunday until the end of 2007. At the time of writing, the <a href="http://nakama-britannica.animeuknews.net/">Nakama Britannica</a> team consists of six individuals (<a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/about_us.php#Lewis">Lewis</a>, <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/about_us.php#Martin">Martin</a>, <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/about_us.php#Nargis">Nargis</a>, <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/about_us.php#Paul">Paul</a>, <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/about_us.php#Ryan">Ryan</a> and <a href="http://www.animeuknews.net/about_us.php#Sarah">Sarah</a> - team profiles and avatars coming soon) and as a result, the future promises an ever rotating and eclectic mix of editorial subjects and writing styles.

As a means of introduction - here is a brief teaser on our first two articles:

"Since this is my first post on this brand spanking new blog I decided to cover an issue that I had completely forgotten about until a few days ago. As I was roaring along the road running over various species of wildlife and pensioners one of Gwen Stefani&rsquo;s records came on the radio. As you may or may not know Gwen in her recent years has taken a great shine to Japanese pop culture. Funnily enough this 3 minute spat of pop music got me thinking to more pressing matters, the state of anime soundtracks and their past." "With the warmth of summer now behind us, now is the time to retreat indoors out of the autumn wind and rain. Personally I like to unwind in front of the TV when the great British weather turns; fortunately there&rsquo;s plenty on offer from the UK&rsquo;s anime DVD distributors to prevent boredom setting in! There are a number of exciting new titles to hit the shelves in the next few months, but here&rsquo;s my own shortlist of favourites that I&rsquo;d recommend." Cheers guys. Personally, I'm really excited to see how this develops in the future, we have a nice system in place and the quality of writing will hopefully shine through. Since our DVD reviews are so tightly integrated with the "main" site, I get the feeling it's easy to overlook the individuals that have spent countless hours writing them over the years. Hopefully Nakama Britannica will see us pushing forward as an editorial force rather than just some generic resource.

Also, Martin takes the credit for the great layout and general set-up. Good stuff, Martin ;)

Like the new site, a couple of interesting articles to get us started. Hopefully more quality writing to come! Good Luck!

Hmm... it does seem rather interesting, however, I won't hold judgement just yet, I'll see how it takes off. Btw ConcreteBadger wins for that layout.

You will like it, and like it good you hear me!

To be honest Paul I think you didn't really need a blog to discuss the anime articles you couldn't submit as reviews. Why not just use these entries as Features in your articles section of the website? Wouldn't it be far wiser to have all your content on AUKN rather than split it up on a blog, too? Gaming websites use such things as features all the time, and for all the little things you want to say there's always the possibility of having a regular column for yourself or Martin to let out your current opinions on the anime industry. I guess all of this is a bit freaking late to say, seeing as the blog's already up, but I just wanted to give my two pence anyway.

You have a point, Nemphtis, but there were a few things that attracted us to the idea of blogging.

1. I'm not sure whether or not you've noticed, but the vast majority of the readers (and forum users) at Anime UK News are based in the UK. Though there is nothing to discourage people from different countries from getting involved, they seem to be held up by the fact that this is obviously a UK-centric anime fansite. On the other hand, having a more generalised anime blog allows us to redefine our identity and not be limited by geography.

2. At the moment, when we write articles or reviews for that section of Anime UK News, I kind of feel like the authors personality is watered down and almost ignored as just another part of Anime UK News. In particular, we spend a lot of time on the DVD reviews and the vast majority aren't really seeing the person spending hours behind a computer screen writing for you. We've got some great writers on our team and by moving into blogging, we're trying to bring across these individual personalities. Anime UK News is a rather formal resource for UK anime fans and people are here to take what they can get from us; that's fine, a blog is a more personal relationship.
