FuyuCon has let us know about their Nottingham-based convention. Taking place between Friday 19th October and Sunday 21st October 2007, there are 500 spaces available for UK anime fans, and along with the usual industry and dealer presences, British anime expert Helen McCarthy will also be appearing as a guest. An anime convention taking place in my town!?! I'm already there... shame it's over a year away!

Thanks for the heads up! ;)

Might be worth a look I suppose. Still that is some time off, hats off to em wanting to be ready and all but I'll be amazed if I don't forget about this before it happens. o_O

It's held after the main summer events, which is a bonus. I should be able to save up in time for it! Getting a special guest such as Ms MaCarthy is good coup for the organisers and should entice a nice sized crowd.

Part of the reason for its placement was to avoid the summer cons and not to compete with them as I understand it, which is probably a good decision to make.

As for the length of time to prepare for it that seems to be par for the course for most UK cons at the moment. Ayacon and Amecon both work on a 2 year turnaround from what I have noticed and the organisers of Fuyucon decided not to try and rush something together for this year and make sure they could put something workable together.

I'm already signed up and paid up for this one and hope it goes well for the organisers ;).
