In need of a multi-region DVD player

Just got to your cheapest local supermarket and take a note of the product code then check to see if it can be unlocked. Most can. Last DVD player I bought was a £20 Toshiba from Sainsburys, and it was actually very good (I presume it still is, but it's back in it's box as I don't use it any more). Hmm...

Can I ask, how do the codes work, exactly? I assumed you could just buy a DVD player that was already multi-region.
 
You can, if you wanna pay over the odds. Probably 80% of ordinary DVD players can be unlocked for nothing via a simple remote code (I'm destroying my own sales pitch here but meh). You'll still buy mine if it's cheap enough, right? ;)
