Importing a USA Blu Ray Player - Advice?

Hi everyone, i've been considering buying an American blu ray player to play some of these nice Funimation and special edition blu ray's that dont see the light of day over here. Anyone imported one or know of a place I could buy one relatively cheap?

Also i need a component model as thats the last port i have spare on my TV!

Why get an American blu-ray player? Why not just get a multi-region player then you have more choice.

I hear theres problems with FW updates and running curtain blu ray discs when you have a multiregion player, plus i already have a PS3 for Region B blu rays and the only other region i want to play is A (aswell as R1 dvds)
