I'm replaying Silver for like... the sixth time XD
At the north gate of Goldenrod City a gatekeeper asks you to give his lazy friend on route 31 some mail, and he gives you a spearow with mail attached. I took a look at the spearow 'Kenya' and decided I'd like to try and keep her for myself :3 (after all lazy guys hardly gonna appreciate her, he'd be better off with a magicarp)...
So, I removed the mail and sent it to my PC (so it wouldn't loose the message), and put 'Kenya' in my PC. I then withdrew a magicarp I caught earlier and gave him the mail. I popped over to route 31 and the lazy guy reads the mail taking the magicarp at the same time, wha la! I get the usual TM50 Nigtmare as a reward, lazy guy gets his dream pokemon, and I have a lovely spearow who will get the 1.5 experience boost as she's classified as a trade (as her origional trainer is 'Randy').
TA DAAA! I is a theif! >:3 Mwahahahahaha!
