Hey!

So, as you've guessed, I'm new here. I'm 18 and I thought it would be a good idea to meet manga/anime fans closer to where I live so we could share the disappointments of everything being released in the UK a lot later than everywhere else.

Mainstream I like Bleach, Chobits, Death Note, Fruits Basket, Studio Ghibli etc.

I little less known, including some of my favs are: XXXholic, Kuroshituji, Count Cain, Godchild, Vampire Knight, Hetalia...

I'm also quite interested in picking up some Japanese but knowing how difficult it'll be, I'm not sure if its worth trying...

So yeah, I think I've said enough, please don't bite me and I hope this is a nice community!

Welcome to the forums,

Yeah the general population of this place is nice....the ones who bite have been muffled for good measure so no need to worry lol.

Deathnote,
Bleach,
Ghibli

Have you tried Full Metal Alchemist, Cowboy bebop, Ghost in the shell, Hack.// , Naruto, FMP, Shana, Hellsing Ultimate, gundam, Claymore, Desert Punk, elfen leid?

there's a load more that i could list off but their a few good ones that i'm aware of :)

Phew, well that's good to know!

OMG!! completely forgot to mention some of them, hence I put in etc. to cover me!

I love Full Metal Alchemist, talking about it, I really need to catch up on it! And I love Ghost in the Shell but I've only seen the movies, is that the same as the series?

I've read the Hack.//Twilight Bracelet trilogy but the other .Hack// series, I'm confused about which one is the newest and how they're connected?

Thanks for the recommendations! :)

If you enjoyed the movies you should enjoy the series too. it tends to give more information on the squad and the series are set at unconfirmed times around the films. i mean the major in the first one ends up being a child and with batuo. in the second one (Innocence) the major isn't part of the squad anymoe and in the third one (solid state society)....well if you haven't seen it yet then i won't spoil it....but in my opinion the order should go:

1st boxset
1st film
2nd GIG
Innocence
S.S.S

and the laughing man case and the 11 others....i think they are just thrown in there at random times....as i said its a bit of a weird timeframe.

Ahh, now i've seen the Hack.// anime and its abit strange...for part of it it reminded me of digimon...with the whole "stuck in another world and in a constant fight to accomplish the mission" i didn't watch the whole thing through as i got bored with it :/
But the Hack.// manga on the other hand, i read the whole thing :D and enjoyed it, infact it was one of the first manga series that i started on.

I don't think there is a direct connection to them beyond the fact that they are part of the same game. and that the manga is set after the book (novel) version of hack.// .....where the whole bracelet and the team become famous. im not entirely sure if the anime is set on the novel or not. considering they all mention the bracelet its abit confusing lol.

regarding .hack although i'll be missing a few bits, they're all link together

the AI.buster novals are prequals to the .sign anime.

then the 4 ps2 games come in, which tie in with the game novels which are practically the same idea, bar from blackroses point of view and the oav's which follow someone elses view of the real world during the games timeline.

then you have LOTB which can lead 2 ways the manga which seems to tail off into it's own story, and the anime which trys to carry on, but in general it's classed as an alternate world story.

.hack//roots which follows on from the games is set in a new version of the game, but in the same time line, and is a prequal to the the .hack//GU games/ova and manga which are all just different formats of telling the same story.

and thus far that's where it ends.

there is also a game .hack/fragment which is sorta based on the AIbuster novels, but only cause it's kinda a "the world -beta tester" game

*takes deep breath*

oh and welcome to the forums ;)

Hello and welcome here!

you have some good stuff in your list and some I've never heard of. Can you tell me something about them? ("Kuroshituji, Count Cain, Godchild, Vampire Knight, Hetalia... ")

All fangirl bait.

Thanks. Nothing for me then, I guess.

I knew about Kuroshitsuji, as I've posted that other topic, but copied and pasted it anyway.

Hey-ho Minstrel. Welcome to the group.

And Ryo!! Stop stealing my spotlight with .hack!!! Dammit! :p
(Dont worry about that, he's my bro and we always fight. ;) )

Anyways, enjoy your browsing and hope to see more contributions to the forums from you.

Yes, I've seen the third movie and I've heard that a forth may be coming out too, they seem to be very keen on continuing the franchise. My favourite one was the second one, which is odd because generally the second movie is always worst than the first one and then they put all their efforts into the third... The major as a child? Is that her soul in a child's shell/body or her actually being young? Thanks, for the order, I'll definetly look into it and try to get my hands on those! ^.^

Right, that anime definetly hasn't been sold to me there, whearas the manga sounds better. Is this one of those kind of things were the game was made first and then the anime and manga followed, like pokemon? [/quote]

OMG, I'm actually overwhelmed by this welcome! :D
Such nice people you are! ^.^

BlackWolf : Sorry, used to be up to date, got up to around episode 200 on the anime and with the manga I know I've fallen behind... actually hang on, that's me taking about fansubs tho, I'm not sure how far they got with releasing it here... Does Ichigo trying to save Orihime sound familiar to you?

Ryo Chan: Thank you very much for explaining the .hack series to me!

Maxon: please don't eat me!

RetroRainbow: XD all fangirl bait... You've made me so embarrassed now! Btw, Hetalia isn't anthro, they're just chibis and its probably the worst place to learn history from, lol.

Thanks guys! :)

.hack//sign came before the games, which were followed by the LOTB manga, and then the series

the manga of lotb is much better imo than the anime

but only cause of Zefie :)
