Hello everyone,

I have just started getting back into anime after a VERY long hiatus. I am from an era where channel 4 (in the uk) used to play Anime in the early hours at the weekends. They introduced me into AKIRA, Vampire Hunter D and many more.

Anyway looking forward to getting to know some of you and hopefully find some gems in the buying and selling part of the forum. ✌🏻

Hey there! I'm one of this forum's Vampire Hunter D fans, have you read or listened to (now they are doing those fun dramatized audiobook adaptations) any of the novels? I am 37 but because I was quite sensitive to gore as a young 'un (still am though less so with animated gore now), I would have been unlikely to watch late night channel 4 airings of anime like Akira at that time, so my gateway drugs were more things like Studio Ghibli films, some of Gainax's work at that time (FLCL and His and Her Circumstances), early Makoto Shinkai works, Cowboy Bebop, and things like Serial Experiments Lain and Kino's Journey. What other anime did/do you enjoy? You have reminded me I still need to buy the Akira manga boxset and read the whole thing! :)

Hey! VHD was so awesome as a kid, so stylistic - they all seemed more stylistic back then. Regarding the audio book adaptations, no I have not listened to any of them and in fact it is the first I'm learning about them. The AKIRA box set is so cool, I also need to purchase it. My friend has it and its really cool to look at on the shelf.

In terms of things that I am into now, I recently got into Dandadan and Highschool Of The Dead. Tokyo Ghoul is also on my radar.

Did you used to buy the old MANGA comics? I vividly remember having a few magazines of Dominion Tank Police, those were cool.

I'm not a particularly nostalgic person but every pop culture era has a certain look tbf. I would def recommend those audiobooks, they are very well done, I've listened to the first 16 of them! The Akira boxset does look very boss, but for now I'm prob gonna end up stalling on it for other manga titles such as Call of the Night, Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun, Barakamon and Silver Spoon :)

Ah cool, I am currently watching Tsurune, my PA's gotten really into it too cuz he does martial arts so we're kinda watching it together, and I'm rewatching Fruits Basket (2019 remake) and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (the latter two both with my boyfriend), I am also reading the Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin manga :)

I've seen vintage issues of stuff like that and I do own some quite old manga but I've never been a big magazine collector, I think the oldest manga I currently own are probably Moon Child from CMX and Silent Mobius from Viz :)
