Hello :)

I'm David, 25 years old and from the peak district, obviously into anime but also into manga a bit and tend to like many other Japanese things too.

I've not joined much forums or anime sites before, always found it hard to join in on forums, but I recently joined anime-planet hoping to meet and talk to like minded people, and thought it'd probably be even better to join this one too since its UK based :)

Hi David. This was the first forum I joined up to as well, and much like you I previously found the prospect of internet forums a bit intimidating. Luckily enough, this happens to be the nicest and friendliest internet forum I have encountered! See you about.

Thanks everyone :)

Lupin is obvious yeah? :p I'm in the middle of watching the second series of that right now, really enjoying it, and the tv specials and films I've watched so far are awesome too.

Other than that, Akira and Ghost in the Shell are what got me into anime, they are still some of my favourites, studio ghibli films I really like too, Patlabor (films and the tv series), Cowboy Bebop, Vampire Hunter D, I like a lot of Katsuhiro Otomo's work too like Metropolis and Memories, just to name a few :)

I like a lot of weird and surreal things too, like Cat Soup, Dead Leaves, Angel's Egg and The Ultimate Teacher I watched not long ago, that is one of the maddest things I've ever watched :p

Weird and surreal.... I've recently watched Afterschool midnighters and I really loved that film! Have you seen FLCL? Also, is Angel's Egg the Mamoru Oshii film?

Cool, it looks interesting :p I might give it a go! I've not seen FLCL before, always been unsure whether I'd like it or not, I know a lot of people do. And yep, Mamoru Oshii, and artwork by Yoshitaka Amano too, one of my favorite directors and artists so its like the perfect match for me :)

Ok, then. My recommendations to you might not be welcome. I hated Angel's Egg with a passion. I thought it was really boring (and I might even have fallen asleep during it....)

hehe, it seems to be a love or hate it film :) do you like other Mamoru Oshii films? I'm going to give After School Midnighters a go when I have the time, it looks fun :)
