Has Moribito got a UK publisher yet?

By publisher I would guess you're talking about the novels, but I'm sure you're actually talking about the anime series and a UK distributor.

The US release seems to be halted at the moment, it got dropped from adult swim as well as far as I know. Media Blasters released it 2 episodes a DVD as well, which was odd.

I wouldn't think a UK release is anywhere on the horizon at the moment.

I wouldn't be surprised if Funimation got hold of the license actually.

Is it feasible that some of the recent Funimation licences may end up appearing on these shores, considering they sublicence to Revelation in this country?

Really depends on the titles themselves and wether or not they would sell over here, but it usually is just a matter of time!^__^

I;ve justed finished watching the series on fansub and was really impressed by it ,although I,am not suprised as it was made by Production I.G.It's true that its run on adult swim was cancelled after just 10 episodes(go figure , guess they don't know good anime when they see it.)but so far media blasters have released the first 2 volumes .Volume 1 actually has 4 episodes and vol 2 has three episodes each.I checked on amazon and both volumes are available on region 1,no news on when or if they will be bringing out the rest of the series. Here's hoping that they do as I for one will buy the whole series after all I've just watched 15 episodes back to back,I could'nt stop watching it. :D

It figures that, while Funimation are happy to license every piece of crap under the sun (Gankutsuou aside), Moribito, one of the few high quality, non-moe series to come out in recent years, would have issues getting released.

I can't see it getting released over here -- it's too mature and doesn't have any fan service. The likes of Daphne (w/e) will continue getting released instead. If series like this and Spice and Wolf got released I'd buy them (well, I'd pick up the box sets at least!) but it's unlikely they will. Only mainstream or kiddy rubbish gets sent in our direction.

It always pisses me off when I look at my anime collection. Why? Because the majority ot it is crap. And why is the majority of it crap? Because most anime released outside of Japan is crap.

Booo... I've finished it now and think it was fantastic. Easily my anime of 2008.

I hope it does come out, as i would certainly buy it. I hope they do the other books too.

Aion why would you buy crap?

As a bargain hunter and anime fan, I couldn't resist picking up a ton of anime from ADV fire sales, eBay and SecondSpin over the years. Sadly for me, however, I didn't realize how bad most anime is until I had 100's of DVDs. I now wish that, instead of picking up bargains, I'd spent money on anime I know I like.

I just noticed this: http://www.playusa.com/DVD/Region_1/3-/ ... oduct.html

The good news? It's under the customs limit. The bad news? They're only 7 episodes and Media Blasters plan to release Moribito over 8 DVDs. I was going to order until I discovered that Media Blasters are ripping off people.

Edit: This is supposed to contain both volumes in an art box, for only £2 more...

However, filling up the box set with the remaining 6 volumes... :/

Media Blasters are releasing it over 13 volumes actually, a mirror of the Japanese release. For some odd reason... EDIT: I'm getting conflicting information actually, so don't quote me on that...

And that 'box'set is just a flimsy box holding the two volumes, Media Blasters didn't get access to the pictures needed to make an artbox at the time.

I really wouldn't bother with buying Moribito on R1 DVD at the moment, the whole release is up in the air.

13 x 2 = 26

4 + 3 = 7

13 x 4 = 52

13 x 3 = 39

12 x 4 + 3 = 51

13 x 2 + 13 x 3 + 13 x 4 + 4 + 3 - 150 + 177 = 77.3

I think you're getting confused because MB released a SE 6 disc Walmart box set, spreading 10 episodes over 5 of the discs and using the 6th for extras. Volume 1 has 4 episodes, volume 2 has 3 and volume 3 is also supposed to have 3.

I have the first two R1 volumes in that piece of card that is supposed to be an art box. However that aside the show really has me hooked and I am so pissed that volume 3 does not seem to be shipping.

What are the issues over the R1 releases? Again another good show seems to get hit with trouble it should not have.

I read something about there being a problem with the Geneon masters. I don't really know, though...

I'm guessing the real issue is the fact that, after 10 episodes, Moribito got pulled from Adult Swim due to no-one watching it at 1:30 AM. MB have probably had second thoughts about releasing the rest of the series.

How they've released the series is very odd. Going for 7-8 volumes for a 26 episode series is madness these days. And I fail to see the point of them releasing a Walmart exlusive 10 episode box set, with 2 episodes per disc.

The third volume will only have 3 episodes on it, by the way. That's why the Walmart set had 10 episodes: 4 + 3 + 3.

I thought it was on that good slot for about three episodes, until it moved to 5:30AM or something...

Actually the viewing figures were very good. They always are very good for anime. It seems to be other issues that cause problems.

Someone on another forum asked someone working for MB what was going on with Moribito. He was told Geneon weren't supplying them with the masters beyond episode 10 fast enough for some reason. The common assumption seems to be that Geneon hadn't finished dubbing the series before they died.

If that's the case and the series didn't get pulled because of low ratings, then the obvious assumption would be that the episodes beyond 11 aren't dubbed and that's why no more episodes could be aired. The hole in that theory? It doesn't make sense for MB to put a series with only 10/26 episodes dubbed on TV.
