Gurren Lagann - Parallel Works

So this is basically a parallel universe movie with the same characters in a different world? Any clues when its coming out?

It looks damn awesome.
 
Weird.. Though, cool looking all the same :D I'm glad to hear it's not just a retread of the series' earlier episodes as I initially heard, I'd definitely prefer them to take the story somewhere new. Here's hoping it lives up to it's reputation.
 
I was going to come and post "Unoriginal ploy for money, cash-in animu" but it seems they're actually putting effort into it and making it original, good job, GAINAX.

The music kicked in and I couldnt stop smiling. I would have been perfectly satisfied with a movie version of the series as it was but this is glorious
 
This isn't a trailer for a movie, it's literally an AMV created by a Gainax animator given free reign to do anything with the Gurren Lagann characters. There will be a bunch more videos, just as 'alternate universe' as this, some with completely different drawing styles, but that's all it is really. Think of it as an anthology, much like The Animatrix, but more like a collection of AMVs than conventional stories with dialogue and everything.

Basically, the theatrical movies will still be a retelling of the anime plot. These clips have nothing to do with that and will be released straight to DVD in Japan; the stories you see in them will probably never be extended, so enjoy them for all their weird, randomness!

Ah right, I was wondering why it was seemingly ruining so much of the story. Still, nice to see - I look forward to seeing more.
