Gunslinger Girl Season 2 Announced

melonpan

Death Scythe
As the title says. Previously hinted at by the company that produces it 'Marvelous Entertainment', and officially announced in 'Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh'.

Let's hope Funimation can do a better job on it this time ; ) (of course that's assuming they'll license it).

Ooo great news, i really enjoyed the first set of episodes and it certainly felt unfinished by the last episode so here's hoping to another cracking season. Ta very much for the post.

Sweet, always felt this anime required a second season will look out for it :).

Was one of the first anime series i watched dubbed (watched it subbed first) and i loved it.

Didn't Paul post this months ago? >_>

Well, as mentioned above, Marvelous Entertainment hinted to it being in production, so is was probably that >_>. So no, he didn't post this official announcement.

Whoooooooooo!

Sorry, I'm so glad to know it's official and all. Gunslinger Girl is one of my favourites for various reason and I've been praying for more from this series. Gunslinger Girl was very enjoyable and I hope the second season takes a step forward. :]

So, the first Gunslinger Girl was good? It's not just/mostly an excuse to oogle pretty girls wielding pretty weapons?

Not really, it has a depressing storyline behind it. And everyone says it pretty excellent. I was even mad about it, trying to find the DVDs in the shop. But it got released here, and I haven't really bought it >.>

And this is anime, really. Theres got to be some form of fanservice. Whether it's big boobs, tights or women/nuns running around with guns.

Stolen from Chrono Crusade. >_>

Which deserves a mention... Shame I was stupid enough that time to buy it, because I thought it has connections to the Chrono Trigger or Cross.

And since I have lots of money for christmas, I'll buy the boxset.

I love the premise behind this series just sort of appeals to my sick sense of humour. Take terminally ill girls with no real families cure them turn them into cyborgs, condition them with a dependency to and willingness to anything for their handler (older brother figure). Then train them as assassins and use them to hunt down mafia types.

This is a simple run down of seeds of the story, however the the anime is so much more the girls all have their own personalities and each treat and are treated by their handlers differently. Some of the most touching bits are just the girls together in one of their rooms having tea and talking behaving like normal girls or not.

Well first episode out, though I haven't seen it yet. Seems like a lots changing in the new series, most of the cast has been replaced :( plus it's being animated by a different company which has apparently used a new animation style.

None of this is necessarily a bad thing I guess, but it's fairly unexpected.

"Zetsoboushita!"
The artwork and animation in GSG2 has left me in despair!

Yeah I've watched the first episode now. Can't say I like the new style. It seems like they've tried to make the girls look more cutesy which doesn't sit so well with the more serious aspect of the show.

On top of that, the animation quality, music and voice acting is generally of a lower standard compared to the last series which is a real shame. Still, I'm willing to give it a chance, hopefully the emotional story will carry it despite the negative elements.
