GITS:SSS

You veiws?

after being massive fan in the series, i was really looking forward to this. and it didnt turn out to bad either to be honest.

I wonder, do you think they will do a 3rd series?

I'd happily see another OAV or feature film of the SAC franchise, but I'm kinda reluctant to wish for more in case the writers begin to run out of ideas. Both seasons were awesome and SSS was good too but I'd rather they left it there than 'jump the shark'.

SSS, for all its Tachikoma action and whatnot, felt like it was relying heavily on paying tribute to the series and movies. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed it, but it didn't really push the envelope in terms of themes and ideas. Unless Kamiyama and Oshii come up with something really special, I'd say the franchise has reached its peak already.

Lol well i love the GITS series and previous films, SSS is yet another brilliant story and there's more of a View on Togusa which is good, Baring in mind the first film was mainly focused on the Major and Innocence was prodominantly aimed at Batou.

I loved SSS, it didn't push the ideas any further but it was a nice addition to the series. Still I can't see them making a third season any time soon, I'm quite happy with it as it is and making another might be stretching it. It's possible but they'd have to do something unexpected.

just a word of warning, make sure you have valid proof of that claim, i thought i'd seen there's a new series but it turned out there wasnt.

Yeah, true, but i still want an OVA focusing on Togusa, on his days as a police officer before the Major found him. Actually they could do similar OVAs on some of the other cast as well.

No third series.

cheers for ruining all my dreams there :)

*Alarmist Response* not so fast Dream Killer.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the the Ghost in the Shell Committee (those behind the Stand Alone Complex series, including Solid State Society) are working on another project. That was a while ago, however, and I hope it wasn't just referring to the 'Laughing Man' and 'Individual Eleven' summary films. I can't see the modernisation of the series ending without some kind of closure, but we'll have to wait and see.

The film was good but it was no where near as good as the series in my opinion

Agreed - the standing, from best to worst, in my opinion, goes:

Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence.
Ghost in the Shell.
Ghost in the Shell 2: Stand Alone Complex, 2nd gig.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society.

I don't really liked innocence that much... maybe I should re watch it. excluding the GITS 2 movie, I agree with your list though.

Possible new series

While there does not seem to be any new series on the horizon,I think the producers left them selves an opening right at the start of Gits SAC SSS when it's explained that the major has been gone from section 9 for two years.I would love to see another SAC series based around that time dealing with togusa( my favourite character) taking over from the major at section 9 and possibly some stand alone episodes concentrating on the major's activites. One can always hope. :D

I don't like how Manga Entertainment have been pretty much promoting Solid State as the third installment in the movie franchise because although I like both Stand Lone Complex and the movies it's pretty clear to me that they are worlds apart in terms of how the story is depicted.

Personally I thought Solid State was a fantastic installment to the Stand Alone Complex franchise but I hope that it's not the last since there is a lot more life left in the series and a lot more room to explore in terms of characters. Same goes for the movie franchise although I wouldn't have said that if it werent for Innocence since although I enjoyed the first movie somewhat repeat viewings don't hold up to much and philosophy could be too much hard work with nothing else to really grasp on to as a story.

I will say this if they make a new series of Stand Alone Complex though... Bring back Batous ponytail!

lol AGREED!!!

i think theres a so much they could experiment with, saito...how did he acquire a hawk eye? how did he lose his arm so that it can be replaced with a specialist snipers arm? or did he choose to have a prostetic arm?

what about batou? how about a few series about the days when he was in the rangers?

what about borma and pazu? how did they join section 9? what personal problems could they of had while growing up to make them join a anti terrorist section? did they have family members killed by terrorist?

so many questions, so many idea's

it could even be called something like "Ghost in the Shell: Reminiscence"
