i found mentioned on the ANN website that genshiken has been given a second series to start in autumn. Its meant to be different from the OVA as well apparently.

I myself think thats great since i enjoyed the first series, never saw the ova though.

I’m sure someone can clarify this, but I thought that the second series of Genshiken was actually going to be a full series of Kujibiki Unbalance with three ova episodes of Genshiken added to the DVD’s. A reversal of the situation with the Genshiken DVD’s.

Following the news of the Genshiken manga ending, it seems that the highly anticipated second season of the Genshiken anime is actually Kujibiki Unbalance.

ANN Reports:

While initial reports from Comiket were that there would be a second season of Genshiken, Moonphase now reports that the project is actually a new, independant Kujibiki Unbalance TV series and a serialised manga.

That’s too bad, because I was really looking forward to a second season of the Genshiken anime. I have a feeling fans would rather have Genshiken 2 then Kujian. While I thought the OVAs were kinda interesting in that anime within an anime sorta way, I dunno if it could stand on its own… I do remember it having a pretty catchy theme song, though.

I’m also not sure if this means there will definitely be no Genshiken 2, or if it’ll happen in the future…

Second Genshiken Series to Air This Fall in Japan
The official Genshiken television anime website has announced that a second series has been greenlit for Japanese broadcast this fall. This second television series will be different from the Genshiken video mini-series and the two Kujibiki Unbalance spinoff series. As Moon Phase reports, the Genshiken website also states that the character Chika Ogiue from the manga and video mini-series will appear as the newest member of the Genshiken college otaku club.
Thats the extract i read on ANN

Thats what i saw and thought it meant the second series was to come out. It would be shame if it didn't

Cheers for that X_nick_X

I have mixed feelings about it myself. I’d love to see another series of Genshiken, but I did enjoy the Kujiun episodes. Having said that, it seems that this Kujibiki might bare little resemblance to the one which ran within Genshiken.

Kujibiki Unbalance has run and gone and the DVD release has almost been completed in Japan (the final set of episodes is being released this week). I think it was reasonably popular in Japan but was less so in the west. You are correct that there are three episodes of Genshiken mixed in with the Kuji-an series DVDs.

This new series, I believe, is a new TV series rather than the OVA released with the Kujibiki Unbalance DVDs.

YESSSSSSS WOOHOO

This is my all time favourite anime, I have been tracking the manga series since the anime ended and it just keeps getting better and better so I really can't wait to see what happens with all the characters in the new series

YOU HAVE JUST MADE MY DAY

Hmm, it's nice that they're making a second series as it did kinda deserve having one made, but I'm already buying the manga so I probably won't watch it...

How can you say that, the anime is far superior to the manga

Um, from what I've seen of the anime, the jokes seem to be taken a little further - I tend to prefer the quieter, slice-of-life humour of the manga.
