Genshiken series #1 DVD question

Martin

Death Scythe
Okay, with the second series coming up, I figured it would be a good time for my long-overdue purchase of Genshiken. Being on a bit of a budget, I'm looking for the full series as a collection that's at as low a price as possible (without resorting to pirate copies, obviously). Over on UP1 there are two complete collections on offer but despite both having the full episode count, there's a bit of a difference:

Economy Set: £19.60

Premium Collection: £42

Now, I know you generally get what you pay for so is there any noticeable difference in content or quality of the video/audio between the two? The price tags obviously differ quite a lot but what do I miss out on by going for the cheaper one?

Cheers in advance, guys. :)

hi

I think that the only difference is the price and that the premium one has a better box.I have the economy boxset and the video and audio quality are fine. Its basically the original dvds and cases that were released put together in a flimsy box so it depends if you want a nice box or not.It does also include the Kujibiki Unbalance OVA's. :)

I bought the Economy Collection. I would have bought the premium if I knew it existed! The Economy Collection is just all three single releases in full size DVDs grouped together in a cardboard sleeve.

Thanks for the advice everyone. It sounds like I'll only be missing out on a pretty box by getting the economy collection...even with postage included, getting a full series for little more than £20 feels like I'm commiting an act of shoplifting! Kudos to Media Blasters for their madness of a good value release.

Sigh. I'd have been mad not to. The price still looks like some sort of typo!

It would probably be better to buy the economy collection, as you'll most likely buy the single releases of Kujibiki and Genshiken 2 when they come out. Having a box of half a show and single releases of the other half would annoy me. I'd rather have the single releases. Yes, I'm pedantic.

Enjoy the series! It's my top choice for a light show to cheer me up, and one of the few I've watched more than once.
