Gears Or Halo?

Ok we all know that Christmas is coming up and I am going to get an Xbox 360 with one year subscription of Xbox Live. And Im only going to be able to afford one video game right now.

So the question is what video game should I get for the 360 Gears Of War 2? Or Halo 3?
Ive played GOW2 already and I like the game and I've also played Halo 3 and I enjoyed it as we'll.. Now im stuck between what game I should get GOW or H3? Please give me a decent suggestion and why I should get that game thank you.

Gears easily for me. I don't get on with Halo, but I respect it's place in the history of video games. Also I respect people who think that it si the second coming.

I'm not entirely sure really on that one. They both have there merits.
Gears of War 1+2 are great fun, great campaigns, gameplay is a nice touch and always a good change from your general FPS, however i have had problems with GOW 2 online, mainly the finding a group both to go against and team up with. Its multiplayer is good but i can't really say how good since i've only ever really got one decent match out of it.

Halo is another great series, overall storyline is brilliant, specially if you include the books. Campaign for 3 is great, though when playing through legendary it will feel far easier in comparison to Halo 2's legendary. Multiplayer wise its great, the only major problem i have with it is the other players on it, bar that its well worth a go on. There is plenty of downloadable content for it as well, and the third map pack is due out next year along with the game expansion a while after that.

Personally? So far i've gotten more out of Halo 3, but i wouldn't ignore GOW2 either, if i was in the same position, i wouldn't know what to choose either =/ Maybe Halo 3 to start with then get GOW 2 when you have more money possibly.

Halo - Game full of thirteen year old kids online

Gears - Game full of sted rage heads online

I think I'll go with Lost Planet. Though when I did get Halo I played it three months non-stop pretty much as it was the game and I enjoyed it, but I've played far better.

Neither.

Get Mirror's Edge.

Yeah people say it gets repetitive after the first 10 minutes but they do say the second one will be amazing dang halo or gears ???
Double standard.

People fap to Call of Duty, Halo and Gears of War and not give a **** about repetitiveness. 90% of games are repetitive. People need to try harder if they want to give real criticism, instead of **** they get spoon fed by people like IGN.

Seriously, get Mirror's Edge.

Repetition itself is fine provided the game isn't mind-numbingly tedious. If the game is fun to play, and continues to present the player with new challenges, repetition isn't a problem. Assassin's Creed -- with its insistence that the player performs the same few boring tasks that require absolutely no skill over and over again (scaling, pickpocketing, evesdropping) -- is an example of how repetition can seriously undermine what might have been an excellent game.

My point? Er, I dunno. I lost it somewhere. Play the Mirror's Edge demo and see how you get on with the game.

Mirror's Edge is irrelevant anyway. The OP obviously wants a game with online multiplayer, because he's getting a year's Gold membership.

ME is single player only and I doubt he just wants to watch his membership drain away while he's playing by himself.

He wants user opinions of which of the two games he's played is better...not random prattling about a totally unrelated game! =/

Gears of War. Because it isn't Halo.

And considering there is a chance that you don't have the Orange Box, get that instead before either. The price should be pretty good.

You clearly know nothing about the game if you don't know about the time trials and speed runs.

I don't care if it's irrelevant. Mirror's Edge is a good game. It's not like the so-called "hardcore" **** people seem to lap up, such as the two games this very thread is about. Neither of those games have anything new to offer. The cheaper option is replaying an older version of both games because the experience is exactly the same.

GoW2 has better graphics, but Halo 3 has better online play.

Halo 3's online community is 90% 12 year-old American, but it's great fun to just go on and get on their tits.

played and completed Halo 1 and 2 and played Halo 3 and its all the same thing and after a while is just boring and repetitive.....sorry but its a no brainer. Gears 2 anyday
