Gantz

No. In all honesty, it is one of the worst series I have ever seen. The dub was deafening(?), annoying, and depressing. The art was very poor and basic. The animation wasn't really animation, most of it was just stills. The series could of been good; It seemed an alright plot, and that's why I tried it - I've been told the manga is good, though.

It's GONZO, so, yeah.

the anime IMO is good to an extent, true it diverges from the manga after the 3rd mission, but it does a good job of covering everything that was in the manga upto the end of the 3rd mission and they don't pussy out and make the content watered down for the anime which i thought was a good thing.

But as has been said, the manga is a lot better than the anime and is still ongoing.

Gantz was okay the first time I saw it, but the Manga is so much more gripping and unconventional.

Seem to recall there were one too many sentimental speeches added by Gonzo. The manga's ruthlessly gritty depiction of it's characters was a strong point, so the way the series cushions it sort of detracts.

Overall it just made me think of the 80's video nasties anime used to offer, it's entertaining but horribly crude and poorly directed.

Just read the manga son, that or stay for the opening for the anime then leave. The anime was too slow and had an AWFUL filler ending, otherwise it was alright.

I always listen to this when reading the latest Gantz chapter. NOW LISTEN, YO.

Awful ending and it moved far too slow. It wasn't as gory as people made it out to be. So many people died for stupid reasons.

It had potential but that was lost after the first arc.

I'm tired of this /a/ ********.

GONZO make good anime, and like every studio (excluding Madhouse and Production I.G.) has their fair share of crap. Witchblade was good. Full Metal Panic was good. Welcome to the N.H.K was good. I'm watching Pumpkin Scissors, and that's been good so far. Even though it wasn't my thing, Chrno Crusade was good.

Unless you like rape scenes when they show the expressions on the face of the people watching, no again, lol.
What are you talking about? There was one attempt at rape, and no-one even knew it was happening.

On the first episode.. the "naked woman" spawns and the yakuza member or something takes her away into that corridor to rape her, so that "other guy" stands up for her, whilst the (what seems) main character sits there being a coward and all that generic crap.

Anyway, I have nothing against GONZO; Just their animation for gantz. I wouldn't not pickup an anime just because it was made by GONZO.

I will probably try watch some more of the anime some other time, because I've only seen the first 2 episodes so far (which I strong disliked) so I can't go into much detail. And I'll try pickup the manga, too, because the plot seemed alright.

Overall you are probably best going for the manga, its far more better than its anime counterpart. And you won't have to end up watching the filler ending. Now is probably a good time to pick the manga up anyway since its now getting released here, was tempted to pick up volume 1 myself, but didn't have the money with me =/
