According to various reports around the internet, the Limited Edition Japanese (R2) DVD release of Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shambala will contain English subtitles.

Since this movie (a direct sequel to the popular Fullmetal Alchemist TV series) has not yet been acquired for release outside of Japan, many fans will be no doubt be looking to import this release from Japan. The official release date is 25/01/06. [CD Japan]

Being a massive FMA fan, I'm extremely tempted to import this release. I can't wait to see this movie and if it came out over here, I'd just watch it subtitled anyway. Anyone else thinking of snapping it up?

I have so far seen a grand total of 1 episodes of FMA.

I guess I'll probably wait until there's a boxset release before I even try. 52 (well, 51 here) episode series' are usually outside my budget range (I know, I'm the one who's getting the SAC tin, but I 've already got half the series so I figure that won't make too much of a difference either way).

This is good to hear, but I'll wait until I've seen more than one episode of the series to decide whether or not I'll bother picking it up ;) Okay, people, sell me on FMA, enlighten me as to why should I invest in this series :p

Seeing as the series is coming out on Rapture I'll watch that for a bit and see if it tickles my tastebuds. Usually though I end up buying DVDs just to hear the Japanese voices instead of the dub, but if the dub is anything decent I might not bother.

Hmm, perhaps that despite appearing on the outset as some sort of shounen jump action show, it's actually a more intelligent affair, that creates gripping characters, puts them in devastating situations and observes the result. It's a series about emotional conflict and turmoil that still manages to be edge-of-seat excitement. Most of all, though, it balances disparate elements like few other shows, and actually works.
