i've seen a few amv's and it doesn't look bad, but i thought i'd come see what your opinions of it is first

I watched episode 1 seems ok it's one of those high school ones boy and girl fall in love etc etc

But i don't really like those sorts of shows but then agian a lot of people around here really like it so it can't be to bad.

That is not quite what it is about.

It is a fantastic series. Very heartwarming stuff at its heart with some good comedy and wonderful characters.

The story is about Tohru Honda who, having temporarily moved into the home of the Sohma family finds out their terrible secret. The Sohma family is cursed in such a way that some of the family transform into animals from the Chinese zodiac when embraced by someone of the opposite sex. The story follows Tohru as she learns more about the Sohma family and the terrible things surrounding the afflicted members.

The manga is far better than the anime, only because it goes further. The anime only shows up until about the 7th volume in the manga, of which there are about 22 in total. Even though it only goes so far it is still a great anime and well worth getting if you like romantic shoujo comedies.

It's a really uplifting and often quite funny anime about friendship. The characters are likable, tragic and warm in equal measure. All in all it's a brilliant series - and that sounds wrong coming from me; I'm more of an action / horror fan but Fruits Basket is just excellent.

Heya everyone...

Considering I like Fruits Basket, I'm a bit embarassed to say I only just noticed this thread, "D'oh" as a certain someone would say...

I bought the dvds last year, and considering the number of times I've watched it, I think its probably my best purchase ever. So the boxset will be even better value for money.

It really is a heart warming story, Paul's post sums it up perfectly. That's the special charm of Fruits Basket, before you know it, it someone drags you in.

Ryo Chan, I started an 'All Things Furuba' thread in the Manga section, about everything Fruits Basket. When you've watched it, stop by and drop a post, I'd be interested to know what you think.

Chris Maxwell - I actually prefer Black Haru, if you catch my meaning....

Yep once again Paul has summed it up beautifully

I loved the series, the characters are fun (if not a little strange), the story wavers including some dark material like exclusion (Bad Kitty Cat)
