And because of all the confusion over whether it should be Read or Die or Read or Dream (it's neither, obviously), the US staff nicknamed it Read or Don't.

The OVA is called Read or Die. As is the manga and novels. Except for some of the manga, which is called Read or Dream. The TV series, which is partly an amalgamation of the Die and Dream plots and characters, and partly an original story in its own right, is simply R.O.D, which doesn't stand for anything. It is thus linked to and differentiated from both manga series.

A lot of people may refer to the TV series as Read or Die, but that doesn't change the fact that it's not called that.
