"To kick things off, the former site of the Lazarides gallery in central London will be converted into a Monster Hunter play zone. From the press release:

From July 1st to September 1st, across the whole school holidays, the space is being transformed into a haven for Monster Hunter players to congregate, socialise and, of course, play Monster Hunter, with hundreds of fans expected to descend each day.

Three floors will be available for players - featuring comfortable seating, free soft drinks and amazing graffiti art, and enough space for several hundred enthusiasts to come together and play. Open from 10am to 8pm, 7 days a week, and from 10am to 10pm on Thursdays, the space, called The Gathering Hall, will open its doors to everyone who wants to experience Monster Hunter at its best - played with other people - and to meet fellow fans. Admission is only allowed with a PSP - so don't forget your console and a copy of Monster Hunter!"

:O

WHOOOOOOO!!!!!!! i will try to get down to that place in london atleast once :D

Afoia...atleast i could pair up with you on it
i'm about 2 weeks away from completing the second game...which will bring me just upto date with UNITE ^_^ and then save data will be transfered across to the new game and all my long swords will be converted into money and bargain tickets off new class armour muhahahahaha

____________________________________________________

in ways you can compare it to FF....and yet its not so turn based....you collect resources and that includes bug catching, fishing, mining and killing monsters for their hides and other body parts. taking them to the workshop and buying armour....using things called armour spheres that are bought or mined to upgrade that armour....and using resources to make weapons...there's loads of weapon types to choose from too......

*Great sword (imagine cloud strifes sword and you've pretty much got a Great sword concept right there!)

*Long sword (like giant katana's - i love this type)

*Sword and shield (does what it says on the tin xD )

*Hammer (massive hammers bigger than the hunter)

*Music hammer (you can play notes aswell as attack and form songs to unlock boosts of defense, fire attributes...blah blah blah the list is endless)

*lance (abit slow...but defence on them is brilliant)

*Gunlance (i have a personal hidden love for them....their build like a lance, can attack like a lance...but can fire unlimited bullets and can do a move called the wyvern fire...a massive energy blast that is capable of killing an awful lot of monsters in seconds.)

*light bowguns.

*heavy bowguns

*bow and arrow

You also get a cat (felyne) in UNITE, it fights along side you as a support character which can either attack with a sword...or be a kamikaze cat with bombs lol....or both!

there's also a farm that you can upgrade and manage
and cats who are your chefs and cook you meals which depending on what you choose as ingredients, can unlock abilities when you fight.

You have a guild card that you can pass around to other hunters on and offline and can personalise it too.

the start up of the game is always tough....collecting resources to build better armour...but after the 3 star village elders quests seem to pick up the pace and going after harder monsters becomes more fun. prep for a hunt is also key...you'll learn what items to combine to create more items. You see...its not just hunting...its an awful lot!

Now for the quests...there's a few hundred quests in total given by the village elder....then the cat elder gives just as many but twice as hard with new variations of monsters. then the guild hall lower desk which is a step up from the cat elder...then the higher quests on the second guild hall desk....and at the very end is the hardest quests where the monsters are crazy....the strongest monster is called fatalis....and most people die after one hit.....i know my armour which is in the 400's won't be able to protect me from it. There's also a super saiyan type monster called the Rajang...its a primate-us type monster who's hair turns from flat and black to spikey and bright gold when its enraged....and on the guild hall quests on the higher quests the rajang is already in its super saiyan esque level. and can hit a second level where it turns completely gold and looks like oozaroo but with bulls horns.

there's also the training arena and the treasure hunter quests...all good fun for training and getting rare items

its a long winded game...and thats why its loved...the graphics are really breathtaking for a psp game.

You seem to know your stuff! I've never actually played a monster hunter game before, but due to the fact that 2nd G (freedom unite) was hyped so much in gaming news last year it caught my attention when they announced that it was coming over here. Being the type of person that normally gives into hype i picked up a PSP and put my pre-order down for freedom unite as soon as it was announced for europe.

I hope i wont be the only person going up to london during the holidays, or meet loads of 12 year olds playing there! That may make me feel a bit of an outcast (considering i'm 23!). Hope we can meet up and play some of this awesome-looking game!

i wouldn't worry about the 12 year olds.....we can just sit in a pub near the MH hall and style it out lol.

tell me what you think of it CG :)

I've known about that for a while....looks good :p

i'm stuck! it's roughly another 2 weeks till release. and i'm not finished with monster hunter freedom 2!! :(
i'm putting the hours in to try and upgrade as best as possible and then just hope that it will allow me to convert my gear across to Unite. if not....it'll just convert all my items, weapons and armour into money and then transfer it all across to Unite anyway :p

once i get unite i just know i'm going to end up ditching freedom 2, and thats abit upsetting, considering i'm close to getting monoblos S armour which i've only just been able to make my mind up on.

would you imagine that it took 3 days of gathering and hunting to actually make up my mind which armour to get? *sigh*
if anyone thinks this game is under 500hours playing time...their kidding themselves

lol. well i've finally got my monoblos S armour with custom colours ;)

i'll post a pic later tonight to show you guys how cool the armours are.

and found out that my save data CAN be transfered across to UNITE :D just means that my armour will protect me abit more for the elder guests....but for the guild hall quests i can still expect to be thrown around like a helpless doll lol.

i'm friends with someone who's got 800+ hours of playing time and has only just reached HR6 (hunter rank 6) and considering it goes upto 8 (last time i checked...might be alot toughter in UNITE) but i'm only HR5 and can't progress further until i fight a elder dragon thats the size of a mountain.....no kidding.
and have to fight it 3 times to get its horns (one horn per fight) and fight a lion-esque elder dragon called teostra and break both its horns just to get one horn....you have to fight it 2 times. each time is 50 minutes and i only get one horn from him too......i need 3.

then to go mining in the volcano region at HR5 where the deadliest monsters are....in hope that i'll get enough firestones....i need 8 more. and basically that'll upgrade my fire sword to a red sword. then have to go on even more long winded adventures to get the smoulder dragonsword (best sword in the game) basically need to do everything i'm doing to get the red sword.....but instead of the teostra is a blue version called the lunastra (has just 1 horn thank god) and the ash lao shan lung (the ashened version of the mountain sized dragon)

i'm waiting for the 26th.....come on UNITE :p
Afoia you'll need to use your ps3 to connect to the internet....if Wiki is correct... anyways....back to the hunt....

:/ hopefully todays the day they pull their finger out and deliver it then.

oh just thought i'd write a mini help guide to start off with...as i kon starting off is far from easy;

Point 1) In the beginning you'll have a basic weapon of each of the different classes....choose which one(s) you want to keep, and sell the rest. Now Start to talk to everyone with a yellow speach bubble above their heads, these are your key places of interest. now that thats all sorted....go speak to the lady next to the blue ore (with a cat stood next to her) and complete all the quests she gives you that have a purple title...these are the compulsory quests that you need to complete to get higher ranking quests.....when you've completed one or two quests go back to your house but don't go in....walk up the path towards the bottom of the screen and you should see a peddling granny who will sell you cats...look at which ones you want...if its a cooking cat then look out for the unlockable felyne skills at the bottom. or if its a comrade cat....then you'll see loads of different diagnostics on the cat, to save time i'll advise going to the books next to your bed at the house and reading up about your comrades, make notes of what type of cat your looking for and then go buy the one that best matches upto them expectations. ignore its attack and defensive level, you'll train it via the felyne kitchen board later on, just make sure to go to the notice board and atleast register the cat for active duty, then carry on with your quests....once you've reached 4 star quests (you'll need to kill a Blangonga in order to get to 4star) then go to the training school, you'll have unlocked a few monsters (kut ku, blangonga, congalala and khezu, maybe the hermitaur too) but focus on killing each monster with each of the different weapon sets the training school gives you. each time you kill it you'll get more and more pokke points (used to improve the farm) and money aswell as giving your cat time to do whatever youve set it to do in your absence (ifits working on its attack or defence, fondness or whatever) thus improving your cats skills in battle. now use all your pokke points on renevation of the mining and bug bushes in the farm...then set on getting a certain set of armour (i wouldn't advise mix and matching armour yet, at this low a level there isn't enough gain from it, stick to full armour sets of the same armour)
each piece will have attributes on it that will help you in quests (for example they can cancel out earth quakes, cold/heat affecting you, raised attack....all sorts of variations, i'd advise just looking at the armour before you set on getting materials and buying.

at this base level you can now prosper through the game, it may sound like alot of work...but trust me, its the quickest way to move forward....otherwise you'll play for a few hours, won't feel like your getting anywhere because you can't improve your armour or weapons and eventually just give up.....and that would be a real waste now wouldn't it? :)

*scroll* *scroll* *scroll* *scroll* *scroll*

Ok i'll read that when the game gets here! Seriously! If its not here tomorrow im going to tescos and buying it.

Right.....i've worked out that my cat.....someone who has a lot less armour, health and attack strength......is a higher hunter rank than me......*facepalms*
