First "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal" promotional image surfaces

A new anime adaptation of Naoko Takeuchi's critically acclaimed <em>Sailor Moon</em> magical girl anime has been confirmed for quite some time now, despite details being scarce and trickling out a snail's pace. <em>One Piece</em> director Munehisa Sakai will be directing the new Toei Animated series, <strong>Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal</strong>, which is currently slated to be streamed worldwide via NicoNico this July and now, we finally have the first piece of promotional artwork:



The series' official synopsis is as follows:


Usagi Tsukino is a second-year middle school girl who is a little clumsy and a crybaby, but she is full of energy. One day, she meets Luna, a black cat with a crescent moon on her forehead, and she transforms into Sailor Moon, a sailor-uniformed pretty guardian of love and justice! As a chosen guardian of justice, Usagi seems to have a mission to find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other guardians and to protect the princess.

Meanwhile, the queen of the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl, sends minions to the town where Usagi lives to obtain the Illusionary Silver Crystal which has immense power. Strange events start to unfold&hellip;.

Can Sailor Moon really find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other Sailor guardians, and protect the princess&hellip;!?


The official website for <em><strong>Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal</strong></em> recently posted up a countdown clock that begins on Friday, teasing an announcement in eight days.

Kodansha USA have republished the original manga in English-speaking territories.

With all due respect, it would be nice if this poster was what the actual designs will be, but it wouldn't be the first time a poster didn't match what was then drawn. Yeah it's nice, but I'm still out until I see a trailer.

Yikes, we get the first real bit of info and your auto out and assuming they are all liars with their promo images?

I for one am noting an info release is incoming and will review it when it surfaces, no need to decide anything yet.

I really want the old series that used to show on Fox Kids to be released on a dvd boxset for me. I grew up with that in high school, it kept my company in the 6 weeks holidays when no one else would :) It ceased to stop mid way season three with Rini in it and I've never seen it since :(

People would demand both sub and dub releases. Also I think Toei are being difficult and making the license expensive to get. It's also possible they're pulling an Evangelion and not allowing licensing of the old series until the new one is finished.

I remember how miffed off I was with the end of Season Two with the Doom Tree. They basically stopped it about one of two episodes before the end then piped up with Season Three! Fox Kids you bad people. I miss Fox Kids a lot. That and CNX was my way into anime :3

If I talk about Anime on TV I will go on a rant that will last for days and will probably end in me finding Jerome and suplexing him.

Anime fans, on an Anime forum, saying they watched Anime on TV is in no way a good argument for Anime works on TV.

Pokémon and YuGiOh still being shown on TV is an argument that some shows are TV viable.

I don't think I'll ever forget the Escaflowne opening on Fox Kids. It was soooooo cool. Then I bought the dvd and saw the opening and was like "awwwwwww :(" :p

Oh boy iy's going to be a long 13 weeks before Sailor Moon Crystal starts.

Wanna bet they'll not release on iota of new info before then?
