Film4 has announced that it will air the anime films Paprika and Tekkonkinkreet later this year. According to online listings on programmes such as DigiGuide Paprika will be shown on 3rd August at 23.10. No date is so far known for Tekkonkinkreet.

Paprika Synopsis
A group of brilliant scientists have developed a new form of psychotherapy with the invention of a machine which enables a person to enter another’s dreams. When the device is stolen by a "dream terrorist," it is up Atsuko Chiba, a scientist under the code name Paprika to track down the machine and save the world from madness.
Tekkonkinkreet Synopsis
"In Treasure Town, where the moon smiles and young boys can fly, life can be both gentle and brutal. This is never truer than for our heroes, Black and White, two street urchins who watch over the city, doing battle with an array of old-world Yakuza and alien assassins vying to rule the decaying metropolis. Tekkonkinkreet is a dynamic tale of brotherhood that addresses the faults of present day society, true love lost, and the kindness of the human heart."

Film4 you say? However shall they associate these films with their current anime library?

"FROM THE DIRECTOR OF SPIRITED AWAY"

Cool!, makes a nice change from showing Ghibli all the time. Not that showing Ghibli movies is a bad thing but they'e been shown so many times by now I bet people have grown sick of seeing them on Film4 all the time

I thought they were going to stop showing Ghibli films?

They can still show Ghibli films but only a couple (Ponyo and Tales From Earthsea I think). They didn't renew the deal to show the older Ghibli films.

I know that they've shown some anime which isn't Ghibli. I'm sure they've shown Metropolis.

They have shown Metropolis but not for some time (maybe they don't have the rights to show it anymore).
