We've all seen favourite anime threads 1000 times before... What about your favourite episode?

Mine is episode 18 of Gankutsuou.

The episode had everything. The highlight of the episode was undoubtedly the CG fight between Franz and Gankutsuou, but the episode as a whole was as perfect as I can imagine perfect being.

The fight itself was one-sided; you knew Franz had little chance. However, the direction, with Albert's mother begging Gankutsuou to stop and small things like Franz's arm trembling as he held his sword, made the fight into one of my all time favourites. The fight looked sexy as hell, too.

Episode 18 had the best and most depressing death scene I've seen - Franz's last moments were painful to watch. Franz sure went out in style, though - Fighting in a mecha duel, before using his brains to try to best Gankutsuou by stabbing him in the heart when he came for the kill.

Air Gear - last episode, always brings a tear to my eye

Bleach - The Zaraki v Ichigo fight eps

Ichigo 100% - Ova2 - the girls in uniforms makes my Otaku self smile

Cowboy Bebop - Mushroom Samba - An episode devoted to Ed and Eine and one of the funniest things I've seen, plus Eine with Hiccups was brilliant.

Bleach ep 158 - Chad rocks

This is a tough question!

But, a few of my favourites are:

- Episode 24 of Evangelion (i.e. Kaworu's episode; I love it because it has so much stuff going on, and the climax with Beethoven's 9th playing the background is amazing!).

- Episode 11 of Evangelion (The episode where Matarael (the big spider-like Angel) attacks. This was a genuinely funny episode and I'm always re-watching it!).

- Episode 47 of Fullmetal Alchemist (The episode that Lust dies ;_;, it was such a poignant death and the episode had lots of awesome homunculus vs. homunculus fights, too!)

- 'The Witches Maw' arc of Claymore (eps. 15 - 17)

And as I think of more, I shall add them to this thread ^_^

Still butthurt from the Advent Children topic I see.

More episodes:

Wolf's Rain final episode.

Giant Robo final episode.

Hunter X Hunter, the episode where Gon fights Hisoka.

Samurai Champloo first episode.

Episode 20 of Bebop.

Hot springs of Tenrei episode of Outlaw Star.

Evangelion episode 19.

Cowboy Bebop's 'Pierrot Le Fou' episode and, especially, the episode with the cowboy who goes around on a horse (can't remember episode numbers).

Oh, and I loved the Fullmetal Alchemist where the focus was on the State Alchemist (the mystery of warehouse 13, trying to find a date for Havoc).

Nah, it's just that your self-importance and overestimating of your own reputation has gone beyond funny by now. AUKN's members don't record everything you say in their memory, but that doesn't stop you acting like they do. "OMG, LUPUS DOING HOMEWORK!?", "YOU ALL KNOW WHAT I'M GOING TO SAY!" - give it a rest. So, it's nothing to do with Advent Children (in fact, I didn't even read most of what you had to say there, anyway) ;]

You say this as if I'm meant to care or something. It's just an internet forum, I could care less about what the members of the board thing or whether or not they remember everything I say. Your opinion and theirs don't phase me, I'll do as I please as long as it's within the boundries of this forums rules. Good going, David. D:

I think it was around episode 25 of Monster where Tenma finally decided the only option was to assasinate Johan and waited on the bookcase in the library. What an amazing climax. The part where Johan was describing to the old blind man the hell that was happening around him was both cruel and heartbreaking. Very clever episodes and I hope they adapt that section into the movie they are making.

I can't remember the episode number but it was the episode of Haibane Renmei where Rakka fell down the well and was confronted with the bones of the bird. Very emotional sequence and highly effective.

There are a lot of episodes of Stand Alone Complex that I really love but two in particular stand out to me.

- From the first season there is an episode where investigates the Sunflower Society. As well as showcasing Togusa as a detective and unwraveling the pieces it also contains my personal favourite action scene from the entire series where Togusa ends up getting caught in the massacre of the employees.

- A serial killer who cuts off womans skin in the shape of a T-shirt while they are still alive has shown up and brings back terrible memories for Batou. One of the few glimpses we get into Batou's backstory and shows him acting based more on emotion rather than logic than is usually seen. A strong finale.

Lupin III: Island of Assassins was an interesting and well executed new take on the Lupin characters. It has it's flaws like most Lupin TV specials but this more serious take makes it one of the more interesting and rewatchable of the TV movies. I'd go so far as to say it's my favourite of the TV specials not including the feature films.

Cowboy Bebop's Pierrot le Fou episode is probably the darkest and most stylised episode of the series. The look reminds me a lot of the Batman animated series and also contains of the most intense opening scenes of the shows run. Rather than the usual upbeat jazzy score over the action there is an intense sounding whine which was extremely effective to the mood.

There's loads more but I'm bored of typing right now.

I love this as well.

I can't remember which GITS it is in but the episode with Batou boxing. Also the flash back episode with The Major and Batou as mercs.

Will have to come back when I think of more.

Naruto - 133

After an epic build-up, non-stop action for 19 minutes. I still remember how tingly my cheeks were when I watched it for the first time, it was unbelievably awesome. I must've re-watched the episode at least 10 times.

Cowboy Bebop - 26

Cowboy Bebop was made great by it having one of the best main characters ever and one of the most memorable endings ever. Spike's last word will stay in my memory forever.

The talk Spike and Jet had is probably my favourite part. It was the first and only time Spike spoke about himself openly (although he explained it using a story about cats), making the dialogue extremely powerful.

Gungrave - 14

The episode the show had been building up to from the start; the episode where the distance between two best friends finally showed. Both believing one had betrayed the other, the entire episode made for a fairly emotional experience.

The elevator sequence has stayed in my memory since the first moment I saw it on my awful old 17" 4:3 CRT monitor.

Samurai Champloo - 24-26

The last 3 episodes of Champloo saved it from being remembered as an average series with no story. You could easily remove the last 3 episodes of Champloo, put them together and think of it as a 60 minute standalone film - None of what came before actually mattered.

The fights, direction and animation were all stunning. My favourite part would be when Jin's glasses get removed by a sword that narrowly misses his face, closely followed by his comeback on the cliff at the end.

Samurai Champloo - Baseball Episode - I love eps where the story kinda takes a backseat and we get to see the characters doing something that is, well, out of character. Mugen pitching is some of the funniest stuff I have seen in ages. - Spray Painting Episode - Another good out of character ep with Mugen learning to spell and then going nut around the city with graphiti

Rahxephon- Small Shrine of Time, and Blue Friend. The first is a mix of the standard beach episode, but lacing it with more foreshadowing that you have to rewatch it a few times to get it all, and the second, well can't watching without getting a lump in my throat. :(
SDF Macross- 11 First Contact The first animé i can remember watching and has always stuck with me.
Eva 2 - Berserk Eva, nuff said.
