How much does an anime episode cost to produce? How many countries have Pokemon? How do companies make money from anime? How do the companies raise the money to produce an anime?

Find out in this fascinating and detailed interview with Fukashi Azuma, of TV Tokyo originally published at the Manga to Movies Project website.

I understand North Korea not getting Pokemon, but Mongolia?

I'm more surprised at the fact that Pokemon is not shown in only two countries!
So, does it means that Iran watches Pokemon? I'd be really amazed to find out that Ahmadinejad is a fan.....

"Fukashi Azuma: When we make a 30-min anime programme, it costs us about 12-15 million yen (approximately £95,000 to £117,000). We usually have a 13-week (3-month) run of a TV series which need 13 episodes, so the total cost is about 2 hundred million yen (approximately £1.57 million). Anime production is a high-cost business. Thus, it is highly important to share the production costs with other companies."

This is something that no one ever mentions!

Also, it's very insteresting to see someone explaining the production committee for anime and how they make money.

The story about how they wanted to get One Piece, but were given Bleach and Naruto instead was also interesting.
