Evangelion: The Series vs The Rebuilds

I find it fascinating that the original creator would delve into remaking such a series. I have to admit I haven't looked into it in any great depth for his reasoning, but I admire the fact that Hideaki Anno felt able to return to such material, and I'm guessing condense it as much as re-invent it. One aspect of anime which can tend towards me either delaying or even at worst avoiding/missing a series is the expense which I suppose any otaku incurs when following his or her favourite series when it runs to quite a number of discs. The can also be the issue of unavailable episodes when such discs become inadvertently deleted. Needless to say I heartily approve of boxsets as a means to combat such losses and complications, and in this case these films are I think bringing a more steadfast investment in what always appeared to be a very promising story. No doubt there are some aspects which are missing and much lamented, but on the whole it seems that there are plenty otaku who celebrate these releases.

I really like the direction they are taking Rebuild, personally, I feel 3.33 once 4.44 is released will get a lot more appreciation, as End of Evangelion wasn’t really appreciated till a couple years after release. I do like the fact its basically an alternate universe sequel at this point, with all the references to the original series.

Heres hoping once the Rebuild films are finished, that the original series and End of Evangelion are re-released on blu ray.
