Error on start up...

I recently bought American Mcgee's Alice and after installing it I can't get the thing to play. Everytime I start the game up it asks me to send an error report and the program shuts down. Does anybody know how I can fix this problem?

I'm using Windows XP and my PC should be able to play it with no problems.

I remember this from ages ago, there is a fault with some systems (either graphics card or motherboard) can't remember what exactly. There were patches floating around online for a while, just search errors and the games title in google and it should tell you how to fix it, what patch to download as I am pretty sure you have to update the game to the latest version.

I've already been searching for a while and can't find anything that would help me. The NO CD crack didn't seem to have any effect and the only patch I can find is for the MAC.

Getting old games to run on new PCs is always a pain. It's probably because youv'e got something newer than the game recognises, and throws a wobbly every time it tries to use it. Be this a graphics card, a RAM thing or something deeper, I couldn't tell ya. What specs do ya have btw? It's worth noting that unless you have a Matrox card, the drivers McIcy linked are probably useless.

I'm not sure if it's the same issue, but this thread may help... other than that, all I can suggest is to keep digging around, or find a crappy old PC on the cheap somewhere :?

Thanks for the help guys, i'll have another go at installing it sometime this week.

I haven't had anything but bother since I was forced to install XP.

ive had this game running on windows xp but i cant remember if i done anything to get it working but i think it worked straight away
