Dragon Ball Kai licensed by Funimation in US

The Boss
Funimation just announced the acquisition of Dragon Ball Kai. Dragon Ball Kai is the re-telling / remastered version of Dragon Ball Z which is closer to the original manga. A new dub has also been confirmed for it. No release date has been confirmed just yet. If this will get an UK release only time will tell.

Well, it wouldn't be entirely redundant, but Funi has done enough redundant things in the past with Dragon Ball to make me not put it past them.

Reading up on it though, it seems Wal-mart already have the BDs listed along with the DVDs, in a box set no less, so all should be good.

I stopped watching Kai at it aired at about ep15, unfortunately the jap voices are just that damn bad. There was also the fact that it...kinda sucked as a 'remake'... I guess I might watch it again with a dub though.

lol, having watched the show fully in both languages, I'm surprised you make it through any shounen series if quality of voice acting is one of your deciding factors.

WHY?

The Anime is fine as it is, Remaking it to follow the manga is the same game FMA are playing....is there really that much of a difference? i wonder if this will be a R1,R2 and R4 release like the orange boxsets....

Yo I though the voice actors for the Kai in japan were the same people who did the original DragonBall Z also I liked the Japanese voices

Not all of the Japanese voice actors are the same according to ANN....

Due to the years that have passed since the broadcast of Dragon Ball Z, some of the Japanese cast members have been replaced in Dragon Ball Kai's re-recorded dubbing

Erm... If it's like FMA/FMA: Brotherhood... Then yes, it does as the plot changes immensely.

But it's DBZ... I've not seen any of it, but my guess is that it's a re-telling but with more sparkle and shine. I think the original's good enough for me. (If I'm wrong, gimme a brief explanation 'bout DBZ:Kai and slap my hand.)

As Chaz said, in FMA:B the plot changes a tonne.

As for DBK, I thought it was badass. No fights that lasted like 4 episodes, it cut all the filler crap out, and made the show better. I'd be more inclined to buy DBK than I would be DBZ myself. Way to many episodes in DBZ to warrant buying lol.

The problem is that this would be the version I would BUY with MONEY. But even Funi don't know who the heck has the "UK" rights to dragonball any more (If Manga wasn't BSing on thier twitter)

Wonder who will show it if this comes to the UK. Probably won't IMO,
Toonami showed quite a few animes before but that channel is long gone. This better get a BD release!
