As some of our readers know, Anime UK News is one of the oldest fan-ran independent anime website who focus on what's happening in the UK anime community. <br><br>We have run ad-free from its creation and we would like to continue independent and ad-free, but lately the costs of running the website have pilled up considerably.<br><br>So, in order to keep the website ad-free, we are running this donation appeal, in hopes that we raise the necessary funds to keep running the website as we always did.<br><br>Any amount is welcome. If you can't donate to us, visit our forums and say hello. It's your support that keep us going!<Br><br><form action="https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr" method="post"><input type="hidden" name="cmd" value="_s-xclick"> <input type="hidden" name="hosted_button_id" value="YRDVRPAZ7288G"> <input type="image" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_GB/i/btn/btn_donate_LG.gif" border="0" name="submit" alt="PayPal — The safer, easier way to pay online."> <img alt="" border="0" src="https://www.paypalobjects.com/en_GB/i/scr/pixel.gif" width="1" height="1"> </form>

Hey guys, I've mentioned this a couple times, as I tried to avoid this as much as I could, but I've realised I have to do this to keep everything running smoothly.

A while back, when we migrate servers, some people suggested that we started offering Forum custom titles, so anyone who's interested in a custom forum title, pm me.

I'll give what I can, but right now that won't be a lot. If I had a job and it hadn't been coming up to Christmas, I would give a lot more.

Seems like a good time to say thank you to chaos and everyone else who has helped run or been part of AUKN over the years - It's been a great source of information, enjoyment and cameraderie to me, and it would please me greatly to see it continue to thrive.

You've picked the absolute worst time of the year to ask for donations :p

I'll definitely sort you out with something next month. In the meantime I'm gonna start thinking up an amusing custom title... this may take a while.

Personally I wouldn't mind unobtrusive banner ads from reputable companies if that's what it took to keep the site running.

I can maybe scrape together a bit of cash after Christmas :)
Thank you so much!

I would if my bank had not cutoff my bank account from my Paypal account, the bastards. If I get it sorted I'll definitely give a hand.
Thank you Maxon! You can still donate with Credit card or Debit card if you don't have a paypal account.

Thanks Ayase! The website is only as good as the community around it. I'm quite glad that we have a great community here.

Why is the donate site called "Learning to Fly Ltd."?
That's my company name, although AUKN has nothing to do with it, but I am using my own paypal account, rather than create a brand new for the website. Although, now that you're questioning it, I'll consider opening a new AUKN acct.

I was procrastinating this decision since September. Now I have some free time, so I was working on making sure the website feels like a single website rather than the patch up it currently is and as I was doing it, I realised I'd need to save some space for banners... So I thought to myself, it's now or never....

I agree with the unobtrusive banners, I mean plenty of other sites have banners that are run by reasonably reputable companies and don't look too bad.
Problem with banners is that if they are too out of the way, they may not have value for companies to announce.

Also, I'd be happy to donate much like everyone else but again, it's almost christmas, so perhaps when I'm paid next week? Not that I mean to sound unappreciative by saying that but more that I have other things to sort first.
We are in no hurry and we appreciate any amount =) Thank you so much for that!

Just out of curiosity, is there a target we have to meet? Some other sites that ask for donations to stay ad free usually have a target that updates as donations are made i,e, "£x/£xx"
I never really calculated expenses for AUKN, hosting alone is £150/year, I estimate we spend an extra £100 with mail (general AUKN staff mail is pretty cheap, but competition prizes are usually not so much). I'll update the first post with donations / amounts later.

I will happily donate as soon as I get a bit of cash in, seeing as this is my very favourite internet community after all! I also appreciate not being bombarded with capitalism every time I log on too :)

It is a shame that it's now the time of year when people are most strapped for cash, but I think you'll get plenty of donations over the coming months or so.

Thanks so Much Vash. The appeal will be up for a while, I'm re-working some things in the website and just used the momentum to put this up.
