Do you have more motivation to watch anime you own on DVD?

Well, do you?

  • Yes, and Aion is the best poster on AUKN. By far.

As I've gotten older (and not a lot smarter), I somehow stopped wanting to watch anime on my monitor. I now prefer to watch anime from the comfort of my bed, watching it on my TV. (If only I wasn't a perfectionist and had a HDTV I could hook my PC up to...)

I could've finished DtB, RxJ and Xam'd long ago, but instead I'm waiting for the DVDs for no real reason whatsoever. Where as I don't see the need to watch downloaded anime, I feel like I need to make an effort to go through the stuff I own in a physical sense.

Anyone else the same, or am I simply incurably lazy for viewing watching anime sitting up as hard work?

I wouldn't call it hard work, but i feel as though i have to watch the dvds i have backlogged before i watch stuff on the laptop. So i guess that's kinda similar. Although the backlog can be daunting at times.

I feel as though I should watch anime I've paid for before that which sits on my hard drive. The immense size of my backlog leaves me uncomfortable; I really don't like owning so much anime that I haven't watched.

And, yeah, watching TV is infinitely more pleasant than sitting in front of a PC monitor. I could hook my PC up to my television, but that's a whole world of hassle I could do without.

I much prefer watching my own DVDs/blu-rays to watching borrowed/screened/downloaded anime. Though I still have a backlog because I'm greedy and buy too much.

No preference really.

I try to clear my DVD / Bluray backlog, but it's a never-ending task for me. I always have at least one of two series in my backlog.

I can't stop watching One Piece that's the only reason I still watch anime from my laptop.

For as of yet unlicensed shows I can put the avi files onto a CD/DVD directly and watch them on my TV since my DVD player plays avi as well, which is a neat feature.

I've watched anime on both PC and TV, though I must admit, TV is usually better. I watch DVDs on the PC if I'm also doing other things (checking forums, taking a break from online applications etc.), so I'm not that fussed about the screen.

I definitely try to prioritize the stuff that own, but there are usually a few series that I just can't wait to watch. Plus, I do have my PC hooked up to my HDTV, otherwise I would agree with the "don't like watching it at the PC monitor" comments. I absolutely can't be doing with reading scans of manga, though, just can't enjoy reading them off a screen of any kind.

I have a HDTV I can hook my PC up to. :p

It really isn't a hassle at all if your PC has HDMI output. All you need to do is plug it in, then change the audio to play through the TV. I watch what I feel like watching at the time, the main reson it takes me so long to watch certain series' is because I never seem to be in the right state of mind to watch them. My long neglected Texhnolyze and Wolf's Rain DVDs are prime examples of this.

Since I have a 24" imac it is not too much bother watching anime on the computer whilst laying in bed. As to what I watch it is pretty much always DVDs from my back log which for once seems quite large. Although it is also okay for the legal streaming bits off Funi's site and crunchyroll I watch from time to time when the DVDs are low.

I prefer watching dvd's or blue ray on my tv. More relaxing than being in front of a computer since all my work is in front of a computer. It's like a break

Same as most people so far ,I prefer to watch my anime on my tv rather than my computer. Some of my dvd's I've watched as fansub's first then bought the dvd's later to get that bigger screen expierence. But ocassionally I'll buy a dvd blind without having seen it or even read a review because it's nice just to pop a dvd into the player and sit and make your own opinion on if it's good or not.

Oh, I'm the odd one here. I buy anime, and just let it collect dust whilst opting to watch whatever anime that is sitting in a folder in My Documents. I enjoy watching anime on a computer screen, and feel a bit strange watching anime on TV. Especially since I like to soak up every ounce of what I what, and generally can't do that with people shouting downstairs or walking in and out of the living room. My laptop screen is big enough to enjoy anything, and because I sit on my bed, I'm mostly comfy. Occasionally hurts me back, though.

I do exactly the same. Watch some online first to make sure I like it, then buy. Or sometimes I go only from only a recommendation or review but not often because I've brought anime I've found I don't really like that way.

I do that to 90% of my anime I watch onlines

If it's anything like Haibane Renmei and the remaining of Ghost Hunt, then I don't have any motivation to watch them on DVD. Weird, considering my previous purchases made me have the motivation.

Usually, I download my anime and put it on my PSP. I can't handle watching stuff on a TV screen at night anymore [unless it's Monster, which doesn't seem to have a PSP format of]. For christ sake, I watched Clannad and Air over Haibane Renmei =/ My exquisite taste in anime going to dwindle on me.

Hopefully, when I have a laptop, I'll watch and download my anime crap, then go through a marathon throughout the night until 4am in the morning like my marathons on the PSP.

Nothing to be ashamed of, my good man. To each their own, but KyoAni provides for me more than ABe. I don't know about those little Playstations though- I'd rather watch on a monitor from a distance.
