Disgaea 2 Optional Areas question?

Recently finished the main story to Disgaea 2 and I am wonder how far into the Optional Areas & Extra Bosses I could you get using a forces off captured level 9999 monsters like Nekomatas, Wood Golems, Carmillas & Observers equipped with the best shop brought equipment?
 
You could literally do everything. You need to unlock all the different areas though via the dark assembly, but you can access everything. 9999 is max level after all. This PSP or PS2?
 
PS2 edition. It Seem to me that both disgaea 1 & 2 it easier and quicker to beat end game challenges by capture very high level monster than to bother to leveling up characters and equipment. :D
 
A few years ago now I spent something like thirty hours trying to find the Treasure maps to get to The Land of Carnage. I needed one from the Monk Pirate (think it was that one)...

20 hours later and he still didn't show up. I gave up in the end :(
 
The high level monsters aren't really the strongest things you can get your hand on though mind. Adell is probably one of the best story characters you get in the series, and maxing him out makes him nearly unstoppable. Mix that up with Rozalin strengthening male characters who are adjacent to her, and you've got yourself a force to be reckoned with. The treasure maps are annoying to farm though, and there is more added to the PSP version of the game too.
 
Those wood golems seem on paper the best bet for the strongest unit in the game with their high Hp and Defence stats and the ability to regenerate Hp 20% per round. Also you can boost them with beast master.

You probably right that Overall Adell strongest character in the game but you only get one of him while you can get capture loads of 9999 level wood golems quite quickly or even the better uber ones too.

With no real challenge left with playing the rest of game I think I will give the extra stuff a miss at the moment and start with another RPG instead.
 
not exactly true. the best unit statistically by stat build and such is usually the majin units. top class for them has a full 120% stat build for every stat, wood golems have the highest HP, but that's about it.

Regardless, i think you should look into maybe the PSP disgaea, for the extras it has, including a second mode and such, Disgaea 3, or perhaps another NiS title, if you fancy something of a similar nature. Phantom Brave is always a good one.
 
But how long would it take to level up a majin to level 9999 each time though thats the problem? A lot longer than 23 minuites in took to capture one level 9999 Wood Golem.

Also the characters extra ability play an a major role, as the wood golem 20% hp regain is arguably the best ability to have. The one I just captured and added the best Muscles I currently have can regain over 100,000 hp a turn :D

Haven't got an PSP or PS3 If i did i would certainly go for Disgaea 3. I think If am going to play any Nippon Ichi title next I will probably go with La Pucelle: Tactics.
