Didnt Sega and Nintendo hate each other?

Whats happening, first Mario and Sonic bury the hatchet and compete in a sporting event and now Sega seem to be copying Nintendos games formula with All Star Racing. Not that I am complaining but I kinda miss the old console wars. The modern ones seem rather boring. In my opinion we need another Sega console to heat things up again. Anyone else miss the old console wars?

Actually Sega and Nintendo have been friends for almost 10 years now, i mean Sonic Advance came out in 2001.

Personally the new console wars aren't that different, although it seems that to many fans Nintendo are the new Sega, in the sense that they can't seem to put a foot right. Although i hate the idea of console wars and just wish everyone would just get along and enjoy what they have instead of having a go at what other people have chosen to get.

As for sega re-entering the market...well it would be nice i admit, but it would be a bad move on their part, they get far more money now then they did before, going multi-format have allowed them to get to more audiences, get back their former reputation (unless you mention Sonic, it seems they have a lot to make up with him, Sonic 4 is a great step though) and make up for their many mistakes.

I kinda get what you mean, the old console wars had "faces" and clear players. With the new console wars it's just all the companies in a big battle royale, and fanboyism seems more widespread due to more widespread internet access =P

Yes, console wars were so much more fun when it was obvious how incompetent one side was. At least we're getting the nostalgia of pointless peripheral releases this year.

As for Sonic in Mario games, the biggest shame is that they're the best game the character appears in. And kart-style racing games featuring Sonic characters? Oh how we wish they were new.

Truth. In many ways, while we criticise Nintendo for being lazy and regurgitating 2D Mario on the Wii, it's better than Sega continually trying to make a good 3d Sonic and ignoring pleas to return to 2d (Until Sonic 4 anyways)
