No Paprika? Poo. I'm still yet to see that in theaters. Somewhere should hold a Satoshi Kon season so I get to see all his films on the big screen.

Tekkonkinkreet is something I plan on looking into and I hope the DN films don't put people off looking into the franchise.

That was unlikely to appear since it was on last years timetable (they added a third showing due to its popularity however).

Frankly I'm a bit miffed that it hasn't had a wider release. I thought with the DVD release there might be but I've heard nothing so far.

Wow, you guys are so lucky! You get to see Tekkonkinkreet on a big screen, I wish I could go see that. Tekkonkinkreet is an absolutely fantastic movie, definately my favorite release of the year so far!

Could this inspire a Death Note movie liscence, i'd like to see them released over here!

Yeah, met too! What are the chances, would you say?

I think the of a straight-to-DVD release are fairly high, Since a fair amount of Asian films get released over here anyway.

Note: I wrote this before hand before re-reading the context your statement was in, But anyway:

For a Cinematic release, personally, I doubt very much a wider release of Death Note. It might grasp more attention on TV than anything else (Channel 4 seem to be showing Asian films currently). Also, I would love/hate to see the movies on a big screen. Love because of teh franchise and the Red Hot Chili's music. Hate because they look low budget and not exactly acted that well, Ryuk looks meh.

I wouldn't mind a straight to DVD release, seeing it on the big screen isn't as important as seeing it at all! But i reckon the chances are quite high, given the Death Note manga release over here from viz and lets hope someone will liscence the anime too while were at it!!
