Daft Punk - Interstella 5555 the 5story of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem

So has anyone seen this then? i've been a long time fan of daft punk and i seen One More Time on youtube earlier and i forgot they had a film. If i'm honest this was one of the things that got me into anime, i love thier music videos so much and this movie doesnt dissapoint.

The animation is beautiful with vibrant colours and the backgrounds in some scenes were just stunning. While it lacks dialogue (theres not one word spoken throughout the film) you can still grasp the story and whats going on, it's an interesting concept.

Soundtrack wise you just couldn't beat it, if anyones heard thier album Discovery then you will find atleast one song you like on here. overall i'd give it 4/5 one of my favourites.

First saw the music video's on MTV's The Music Factory on Freeview a couple of years ago, or more!? - before they released the DVD. They started playing the first four songs from the Discovery album back to back (One more time, Aerodynamic, Digital love & Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger)

Apart from some sound effects to tie in with the on-screen action, this is the Discovery album in full. As a concept music video/album it certainly works for me :D

Ditto, I had seen the first 4 videos and though wow this can't be it. Then went onto see they made a movie, after all these years i only checked it out recently.

I think this, along with Tenchi and DBZ, was my first taste of anime. Interstella 5555 would be great with a voice cast, i think it could work. although the concept of album/movie was pretty original.

The artwork is one of the things i love, the animation is top notch and i wouldn't expect anything else from Leiji Matsumoto

I've got it R1 on dvd. Tis on sale via caimen usa. Tis pretty good! Loved the music though tis a bit weird there being no speech jus tunes and music in between. Worth a looksie.

I finally got to watch the whole thing a little while ago. I had seen the first three videos in full, but never managed to catch the whole of the fourth.
I was so glad i finally got to watch it. Not all the songs on the album are to my taste, but it accompanies it very well, and they both brought extra life to each other (the film and the album).
The characters all have real life to them, and it was so sad, i have to say i had to hold back a tear or two, i really quite fell in love with that pilot while i was watching it ;)

Loved it from when I first saw the first four individual music videos (dig the old-skool Matsumoto look) and couldn't wait for the full thing to come out. I was lucky to catch a screening of it at the Leeds International Film Festival (might have been the UK premier...can't remember), and snapped up the limited edition UK DVD as soon as it came out.

I think i'll give this a proper review at a later date. I enjoyed it alot and i'm left with the question of would it have been better with a voice cast or is the music soundtrack something that adds charm to it?

I must admit the opening is one of my favourites, opening on their solar system as one more time fades in. I get this warm feeling when i see it.

I think it would have done well as an actual OVA with a voice cast, but as it is, with such a focus on the soundtrack, i don't think it would have worked to mix both

I like the fact that it has no dialogue...it shows how the central story is universal and can be understood by anyone regardless of language, and also shows how music can be used to set a mood and invoke an emotional response.
