Yukito Kishiro, creator of the Battle Angel manga that is set for a live action adaptation by James Cameron, has been interviewed by Manga News Service.<ul><span class=menu>"As a movie fan, I hope that the film will be completed without any trouble. And, if possible, I hope it will be a wonderful work that the audience would forget the presence of the original work. I would like it to be a box-office success, but more than that, I hope it will be a true film that stays in the hearts of movie fans forever. And if the film succeeded to do so, the praise would be for the Mr. Cameron and the staff. As the original writer, it would be the greatest pleasure that another excellent story were added to the history of the movies.</span></ul><a href="http://www.animenewsservice.com/archives/yukito.htm">Read the full interview</a>.

It'll be all Americanised, so it isn't something I'll look forward to!

I always thought it was a shame that Alita was such a short anime but at least reading that article explained why!!

Heh, the article is very interesting, especially since the oringinal author seems so distant from the project.

It is well worth the read if you are interested in the forthcoming movie. But damm, that guy should be using his artistic authority abit more.

James Cameron is a great science fiction director. Most of his films have been great and he has been a vocal anime fan for a long time now- I'm expecting him to really create an amazing film with Battle Angel. It's in good hands. And if it comes off well enough, it could be a great boost for the anime community, especially in the UK.

I dunno about that, if the movie appeals to the educated type, ie, the type who would be interested in the movie and interested in its source material, maybe it will do well and boost the UK anime scene, but alot of Sci-Fi fans I know either now what anime is and don't like it, or love anime.

I really don't think the movie in general will do much for the UK anime scene, maybe it might sell an extra few copies of Battle Angel Alita manga, maybe it will help me obtain the original two episode OVA on DVD that I have been looking for, for some time now.

Maybe that is enough?
