Cowboy Bebop

I'm about to watch Cowbow Bebop for the first time very soon. Anything I should expect, or keep an eye out for? No huge spoilers please, but I don't know jack about the series aside from the fact it's action and there's some girl called Faye Valentine involved (only because I saw some hentai). Would you say there's going to be a large chance I'll walk away impressed? :]

I love it and consider it one of my all time favourites but given that you've left it so long to watch it you may think it's overhyped. Despite peoples claims it's not the end all be all however it is an incredible amount fun with some excellent action sequences and has a nice balance of a main story arc and stand alones.

Surprisingly I haven't really taken in all the hype that generated around the series much. This is actually why I've been putting it off for such a long time, Cowbow Bebop just never caught my eye while surfing the ocean full of anime series'. Sure, apparently it's very good and I've seen a fight scene which was pretty sweet, but apart from that I have no idea what to expect and that's partly why I wanted to make this topic to draw a rough idea in my mind beforehand. :]

It was the movie I first watched. The fight scenes had great animation and the story weren't bad either. Then I started watching the series and since a majority of anime has a rough first episode I was surprised how well the story for the series itself was. It could impress a lot of poeple but that all depends on what genre of anime your into. Mind you, I've yet to meet someone who's seen it all and hasn't liked it.

I'm fine with any genre, as long as the product is of a certain quality. Anyway I'm going to watch episode one in a second. It's getting late so I'll just finish one and go to bed as I have work tomorrow. Fingers crossed it leaves a good taste in my mouth so I can sleep without nightmares.

One of my all time favourite animes of all time and easily takes the prize for "best soundtrack to an anime" in my book. After the first couple of episodes you'll think that its a pretty shallow series, but stick with it and you'll be rewarded greatly.

Anyways i really dont want to spoil it so ill shuttup now, i hope you enjoy it!

Just finished episode one now, and I must say that even though Cowboy Bebop is pretty old I found the first episode refreshing and intense. It wasn't predictable and the action was well done, if the rest of the series keeps up with episode one I'll be very pleased. Anyway, rushing off to bed now as it's already pretty late so night folks, looking forward to watching more of Cowboy Bebop when I get back from work tomorrow. :]

My only advice would be :
1) Watch it an episode at a time, don't bulk watch volumes or the entire series at once. This is mainly due to the episodic nature of most of the show.
2) Save the moive till after you've finished the series. It's better than the series so don't watch it first and be disappointed by the rest.
Hear a lot of the hype but since i watched the moive 1st, them bulk watched the entire series was somewhat disappointed. It was still good, but not as brilliant as everyone had said.

You should expect the anime to realy suck. First time i watched it i just couldnt get into it after hearing over and over again how much of a great anime it was i watched it. You know what it just didnt live up to the hipe it was goven just like eva.

You think the movie is better?!? Sure its alright but to say its better than a 22 episode series is a bit much. Its just one extended episode with very little to say about any of the characters. I know CB is episodic but you at least got brief glimpses into the character's past with each episode. The movie was just all about action, which although it was good, didnt really set my world on fire.

Talking of episodic, is there any continuing main plot, or is it just the random adventure of Spike and his crew? Chrono Crusade was comprised of pretty random missions at the start, but halfway through a main antagonist came along and there was a greater focus on the overall plot.

there are only about 5/6 episodes with any real story. most fo the episodes are bounties but it's bloody fun to watch. the movie is also one to watch.

I love bebop, but i'm not going to say anything that hasn't already been said before. There is the level of hype about this show for a reason. It also has one of the best soundtracks for any show i've heard, and i mean everything. not just anime.

The series is great, the movie is great, just everything about this is top notch. I really enjoyed it. The characters are all awesome, especially Spike who kicks copious amounts of ass. It is episodic but anything to do with the characters Vicious and Julia are important to the story, no spoilers but remember those names.

Cowboy Bebop is amazing! It's clever and sophisticated and intelligently funny but it's also a lot of fun and despite it's episodic nature, it's very engaging. I'm sure you'll love it!

Fullmetal Alchemist, Neon Genesis Evangelion and Cowboy Bebop all seem to make some 'Holy Trinity' of anime within anime circles. And having seen all three, I can see why. Cowboy Bebop, like Eva and FMA is definately required viewing for any anime fan :]

It's a fine series, I have to admit the episodic nature didn't work to well for me the first time round, though the second I enjoyed it way more. However, it's worth watching for the main story arc alone. I won't say anything other than that episode 4 is awesome. 8)

I have always found that the episode Mushroom Samba is brilliant for cheering you up, I can watch it over and over and never get bored of watching Eine bounce around high on mushrooms

Really hope you like the series mate, tis my favorite and one of the first anime series i ever got in to back in the days on CNX.
Spike is a legend lol and Watanabe is probably my favorite anime director :)

Cowboy Bebop rocks it really does. I thought I wouldn't like it at first but I actually really did when I saw it. I mean cool music, really good character design and martial arts :p = Epic Win
So I hope you like it.
