Cowboy Bebop Disc Exchange Program

I had planned to make use of the exchange program seeing as AL were offering it, but after reading that blog post I don't think I'll bother. The glitches aren't a major issue - in fact I didn't even notice the second one - and arranging for replacements isn't worth my time or theirs.

Ideally they'd be using the resources spent on this to get Durarara done a bit quicker.

Same here. I can live with a couple of seconds of glitched video.

Will probably make use of the Durarara one when they get around to it though.

I was never too bothered about the slight video glitches, didn't affect my enjoyment and appreciation of the release.

Durarara on the other hand....I had to stop a handful of episodes before the end, the mistimed subs were just infuriating,so when that gets round to being the focus i'll have to take some discs!

I'm fine with the discs I have, it kinda irks me that they felt they needed to do this to be honest, the issues are so tiny and insignificant it just seems like time/money/effort that could have been better spent elsewhere. That is not a criticism aimed at Anime Limited, more the people who demanded replacements. So yeah, I'll pass and wait for the Durarara!! discs as the issues with them actually impacted my enjoyment of the show.

I'm happy with my discs the way they are; there are way worse issues out there which never get fixed.

Wait, so they say international fans will be able to trade their discs, does anyone know if that applies to Durarara!! as well? Because I remember them saying that would not be the case, but I think it's odd to treat both cases differently.

I imagine they'll let you if you contact them discreetly. Technically they're only meant to deal with their customers in the UK.

One the one hand, I am aware of the glitches, I know that I will notice it on rewatches and it will bug me just enough to be annoying.

On the other hand, I'm also mindful of the proposed ultimate edition, and crucially, the potential upgrade programme. If that does come to pass, and we can just exchange our existing sets anyway I might as well just wait for that.

Massive kudos to Anime Limited for making good on this though. They could easily have just ignored it.

I think I'm going to have to echo the thoughts of everyone else here. It'd be a waste of both All The Anime's time and money to package and post the replacement discs out for such a minor fault. There's products out there in a far worse state which never got this treatment (Freedom and Horizon come to mind), so I don't see any point in getting new discs for something this minor. This reminds me of that ANNcast where Justin Sevakis thought NISA were crazy to re-author Daily Lives for a similar issue. I guess this just goes to show how committed Andrew is to the quality of the final product. Personally, I'd consider something like missing OP/ED subtitles a far more major fault than this. That said, I'd certainly be willing to upgrade to an ultimate edition if that happens.

I think the last thing you'd want to do is piss off Aniplex by openly offering to replace discs for customers which shouldn't technically have them in the first place. (The AU/UK release of DRRR is region free which some US anti-Aniplex rage-ists may have jumped on)
This is especially the case when there's already a domestic release over there from Aniplex, and I don't think you'd want to be seen as trying to compete with them by supplying their customer base with a cheaper product.

Might be a silly question, i've checked the blog but not sure yet so here it is

When i order Cowboy Bebop Complete Collection now from Amazon do i get the correct discs then or are these still have the glitches ?

Is there a way to check the disc itself, just by looking at the number on the inner ring for example ?

Easy answer - the complete collection is fixed, no replacement required :).

Second point - if you can't spot the glitches, you're likely not impacted by them really I'd say ;).

First point cancels out need for second point, but it's just an observation :).

Best,

Andrew

Thanks for clarification Andrew, i'll go and place an order :thumb:

I think i would see the glitch if there was one, my screen is big enough for it
