Could someone tell me the name of this anime series please?

I once saw an anime series on Region 1 DVD that came out a few years ago, I can't remember the name of it, but it was about a middle aged man who used to be a really great guitarist in his younger days and he basically gave up to get married and have a family. He then falls out of love with his wife and is only with her because of their little boy. But he then gets summoned from a force from outer space telling him that there is going to be an alien invasion and the only way to stop the invasion is by playing his guitar to fight against and fend off the invaders.

I remember the intro to each episode was a rock tune from an old american band, but I can't remember the name of the band though.

Is it ok if someone could tell me the name of this anime series please?

Unfortunately I can't help you with a name, but I just had to comment that as soon as I read the point above, I knew this must be the most epic series ever.

Unfortunately I can't help you with a name, but I just had to comment that as soon as I read the point above, I knew this must be the most epic series ever.

The anime series came out about 2000/2001. I just can't remember the name of it though.
